Wally Snell and Hal Neubauer[edit]

under "Sports/Athletics", i'm not sure if Wally Snell is worth including. Apparently he only played 6 games of Major League baseball. (http://www.baseball-reference.com/s/snellwa01.shtml)

same goes for Hal Neubauer. He only pitched 7 games. (http://www.baseball-reference.com/n/neubaha01.shtml) The preceding unsigned comment was added by 138.251.225.116 (talk • contribs) 19:21, 7 February 2005 (UTC).[reply]

Diana Ross's daughters[edit]

Do Diana Ross's small-deal actress daughters really merit listing? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 138.251.225.116 (talk • contribs) 01:21, 5 April 2005 (UTC).[reply]

I don't think so. Including people who are primarily famous because they're someone's son or daughter would make this list huge. (I know I just added Navah Perlman, but she has made it on her own to merit listing.[1]) – flamurai (t) 04:57, Apr 5, 2005 (UTC)

Ted Turner[edit]

I think he was expelled. Did he even get a degree from Brown? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 87.196.64.198 (talk • contribs) 23:19, 23 August 2005 (UTC).[reply]

He was expelled after three years, but he did receive honorary baccalaureate and doctorate degrees from the university. According to a 29 April 2004 article in the Brown Daily Herald [2]:
  • "Ted Turner '60 spent three years at Brown and left without graduating."
  • "Turner, who studied classics and economics, was commodore of the yacht club and vice president of the debating union."
  • "But Turner was also suspended twice and was ultimately expelled from Brown when he was found living with his girlfriend during his second suspension."
  • "In 1989, the University awarded Turner an honorary baccalaureate degree, and in 1993 he received an honorary doctorate." —MementoVivere (talkcontribs) 05:38, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Rubin[edit]

  • Michael Rubin (2000) - play-by-play announcer of numerous Brown University sports broadcasts on the Brown Sports Radio Network

why on earth does this merit posting??? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.130.233.151 (talk • contribs) 10:21, 18 February 2006 (UTC).[reply]

It doesn't. Go ahead and remove it. NBS525 20:30, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fields Medal Winning Mathematician[edit]

I think it would be appropriate to mention Prof. David Mumford, of the Division of Applied Mathematics, who has received the Fields Medal (the math equivalent of the Nobel Prize).

Jonathan.

Xeno Müller[edit]

The Athletics section appears to overlook Swiss-American rower Xeno Müller, who won the men's single sculls event at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and took silver in Melbourne in 2000. --Death Bredon (talk) 11:53, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Darrell M. West is a political commentator, director of Governance Studies at Brookings Institution, and has published multiple books. I was trying to figure out what category to list him under (the article on him is orphaned, so putting him on this list would help things out a bit) and none of the categories in the Government, law and public policy seemed right...should I just list him under the general Notable Faculty section at the end? Thanks, Politizer (talk) 06:20, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ignore that message; I just noticed he's already on the list, only with a bad wikilink! I really need to start checking things out better before I go posting all over the talk pages.... thanks again! Politizer (talk) 06:23, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Peter Jacobsen[edit]

Peter Jacobsen (of House M.D. fame) graduated in '87...

A Hope in the Unseen[edit]

Someone might want to make mention of "A Hope in the Unseen" by Ron Suskind. It's an acclaimed biographical narrative of an inner-city student who earns acceptance to Brown.

Carrie Bradshaw, Fictional Alumna[edit]

According to series creator Candace Bushnell's Summer in the City: A Carrie Diaries Novel, Carrie Bradshaw, the Sex and the City character, is an alumna.

Trustees section[edit]

Why is there a section on Trustees? None of it is cited, there is no indication of whether the list includes current or past Trustees, and most of the entries are non-notable (i.e., have no Wikipedia article). I don't know of any other article on University people with a list of trustees. For all of those reasons, I suggest deleting this section. Softlavender (talk) 22:16, 23 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

John Quincy Adams[edit]

Article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Quincy_Adams says he was a professor at Brown.

But "Notable faculty", about 2/3 down this page, doesn't list him, nor does searching the page for "Quincy" find him.

Whichever page is wrong, fix it.

Split proposal[edit]

@Filetime, I support the split proposal you made. Brown is a big/notable enough institution that there can definitely be full list articles for both faculty and alumni. Cheers, {{u|Sdkb}}talk 04:15, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
