Guitars[edit]

Origins of his accent[edit]

I used to work near Barking, and worked with people from Barking, but none of them sounded like Mr. Bragg. His accent does not correspond to an Estuary English accent either. I have lived and worked in many places around most regions of England, but I am unable to match his accent to any local accent. This article used to say that he lives in south-western England - his accent does not match that area either. Is his accent a theatrical accent? 92.3.49.47 (talk) 15:31, 9 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

British people's accents often change as a result of where they live and have lived. It may be partly "theatrical", since although he's primarily "a singer" he is well used to public speaking. We'd need a reliable source to add anything. I see that The Independent said here that he is "well-known for singing in a raw London accent" while The Guardian says he has a "disguised Essex accent." I've always thought that "Sexuality" sounded a bit Brummie. But I agree with your descriptions. Martinevans123 (talk) 16:54, 9 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Listening to him on Mastertapes the B side (extensive interview on BVBC Radio 4) it's clearly an east/sotuheast London accent, not a single hint of south-west England in it. 2.31.164.116 (talk) 22:58, 27 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
