Defiler[edit]

  • It appears that I have misled and offended some people with this article, conveying the message that I am trying to promote a toy. I apologise profoundly - this was not and has never been my intention. All I was aiming to do was to continue building the Warhammer 40,000 articles, but it seems some people took this article the wrong way. I am dreadfully sorry if I have offended anyone, and have tried to make ammends to the article. This was not intended to try and sell a toy, but as a serious article about the races and vehicles in the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop game. Once again I apologise profusely if I have misled, decieved or offended anyone, and I did not create this article with any of the ideas put froward in the deletion votes in mind. Geogre - I am terribley sorry if I have offended you or your children - this has never been my intention. I am sorry about the name, as I do not, and have never named any of the models produced by Games Workshop. I hope I have not offended or angered you, and if I have I am most profoundly sorry.

The writer of Defiler

  • Writer of Defiler: I don't think you've offended anyone, but a lot of patent nonsense appears on Wikipedia. If your article doesn't mention that it pertains to the Warhammer universe, it makes for a very confusing read for the uninitiated! Please don't consider proposal for deletion as a slap in the face; Wikipedia's a very friendly place really, but not everything is considered encyclopaedic. Pnot 21:13, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Non-encyclopedic fancruft. should be included in larger article. [[User:MacGyverMagic|Mgm|(talk)]] 11:10, Nov 8, 2004 (UTC) 213.162.102.59

  • It looks like it was copied from a leaflet that came with the toy. Third-rate fantasy game cruft. Sling it in the burn bin. Anthony Appleyard 11:21, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep - at least it has more than one sentence, unlike these endless stone type pokemon articles there are. Seriously, there is much worse than this on Wikipedia and I think it's good that someone is bothering to expand a set of already written articles rather than start some new rubbish. • This person's User page was explicitly created for the sole purpose of voting "Keep" on VfD pages. Same person as Dr. Chicken and Forgotmytea, as well as anonymous editor. RickK 23:11, Nov 22, 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Advert for a toy. Subtrivial fancruft. jni 11:22, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete: Can I imagine ever buying my sons a toy called "the Defiler?" What could it be? A little Michael Jackson doll? A marital aide? One of the most grotesque ideas for a toy name ever, and a silly ad. It's not too early to add it to your letters to Santa, I guess. Geogre 15:10, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • You could, if your sons played with a miniature game called Warhammer 40,000. Granted, most people playing WH40k no longer believe in Santa, but this is a bit over the top. A simple Delete, and merge information (if necessary) to Chaos Space Marines will do. -Vina 20:10, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • Ah! See, I thought it was a toy, and I imagined cheerful little faces beaming with happiness as they shouted, "Finally! I have a defiler!" Then I made several off-color jokes that people took the wrong way. The way the article was written, it really looked like an ad. If it is part of a mythos or commer-os, then I suppose merge (not redirect), which means delete. (Merge and delete being improper votes, we're left with the information having to go elsewhere but not being in a position to redirect a common, or at least not uncommon, noun there.) • I've heard worse... "I finnaly got my Violator!" -thrilled kid of some 11 or 12 years with a weird Spawn obsession... --Asmodai 21:29, Nov 9, 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Trivial information, could be merged in Chaos Space Marines, but as it is will not fit in that article's structure, way too detailed. I do object with Geogre, why would the name of a product ever be the reason for deleting it from the Wikipedia? Unless it is some product with a highly obscene name, I find this a non-argument. -- [[User:Solitude|Solitude\talk]] 16:46, Nov 8, 2004 (UTC)
    • I think Geogre's comments about Michael Jackson dolls, etc. were intended in jest (made me smirk anyhow) and the actual reason for his delete vote was "silly ad". At the time there was no indication that this was part of a game; shorn of their context, many of these fantasy-universe article do look like patent gibberish. Anyhow, I vote delete, and merge relevant content into a broader article if it's considered important enough. Pnot 21:13, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep I'd go for a merge with Chaos Space Marines, but i think an article on demons of chaos in warhammer would be nice... the ammout of info Games Workshop created on them in their gameworlds is quite... extensive... --Asmodai 21:29, Nov 9, 2004 (UTC)
  • Thank you for all your comments - I modified the page to make it a bit clearer as to what I was talking about (!), and have also merged the page into one of the links off Chaos Space Marines. Thank you for all the advice and recommendations!
