Welcome[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Please see my reply to you at Talk:Pervasive developmental disorder. -- Karada 11:07, 25 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Thanks! I've followed your recommendation and reset my prefrences. I'll get the hang of this, eventually... --Woggly 11:11, 25 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Hi Woggly -about votes for deletion. Can you please put new entries above the "add new entries here" line not below them? Also can you please sign and date your entries - you can get the wikisoftware to do this automatically by typing 4 tildes ~~~~ thanks theresa knott

Hello! I notice you're a Hebrew translator - I guess you may already have noticed that Wikipedia exists in many languages, and specifically that there is a Hebrew version already up and running, who I'm sure would be very glad of your help. Perhaps there are some literary and health topics that you could translate from the English?

Otherwise, just thought I'd drop by and say welcome. You might want to look at some of the help pages and some of our our policies such as How to edit a page and Manual of Style when you have time. If you have a question, you can always ask at the village pump, or on my talk page (if I'm not too busy revising ;)). In short: go forth, edit well, and enjoy becoming a Wikipedian! - IMSoP 16:04, 25 Mar 2004 (UTC)

From pump[edit]

Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this question, I'm a newbie... I've discovered a redundancy: Pervasive developmental disorder and Pervasive Developmental Disorder I think these pages should be somehow merged. How does one go about doing this? Thanks.

Depends on how much work you want to spend on it. Minimum would be to list it in Wikipedia:Duplicate articles, add also mark inside the articles that they are duplicate (as described there), and hope someone will merge the two pages. If you want to invest more time you can merge the contents of them yourself as well, and when finished make one of the two into a redirect. It might be a good idea to choose the older article as the one into which you merge, so the newer one will become the redirect. andy 10:43, 25 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Thank you, I'll invest some time in it. --Woggly 10:47, 25 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Great. :) Martin 23:51, 25 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Cleanup, History of Palau[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia! You've jumped right in and taken the invitation to be bold and that is great. I hope you find my comments and actions constructive.

Because I've moved your comment from cleanup to Talk:History of Palau and would welcome discussion there. The article looks fine to me and cleanup is not the place to go into details. Also, just BTW, the policy on cleanup is not to timestamp signatures. Just use ~~~ not ~~~~.

Neither of these is intended as criticism, it's just part of the way the wiki works (when we want). Andrewa 21:06, 29 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for the tips. I guess I'm still learning. It seems odd to me to have seperate "history of" pages in addition to "history of" subheadings in the main article, but if that is common practice here, so be it.--Woggly 09:34, 30 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Like your work thus far. See my suggestion on Talk:The Oz Books, let me know if you really really hate it :-) --Phil | Talk 12:59, Mar 30, 2004 (UTC)

Hi, I'm the crazy allegory misinterpreter from the Wonderful Wizard of Oz ;-). Check out the new version of the page - is it OK with you? --Alex S 22:54, 1 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Hi Woggly, I've responded to your comment regarding Ardizzone, etc. and raised a couple of other issues. All the best. BTW, given your interest in kids lit. and autism, I assume you've read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night? TTFN

I have, yes. Not sure how I would have felt about this book as a child, but as an adult with a personal interest, I found it very interesting. And I appreciated how Mark Haddon managed to weave some real research and theory into the first-person narrative. --Woggly 10:45, 29 Apr 2004 (UTC)

(Note to self: I wonder if there's a wiki-article about Theory of mind.)

Autism[edit]

Hi Woggly, me again.... Just thought I'd post you a link to [1] - I dunno if the program in question ('My Family and Autism') will be shown in Israel, but if it is I'd highly recommend catching it (and there's other stuff on the above site that might be of interest).

L. Frank Baum[edit]

Hi. In connection with L. Frank Baum, I wonder if you can tell me whether he actually wrote the editorial sometimes attributed to him, favoring the extermination of the American Indians.

David Stannard, AMERICAN HOLOCAUST: THE CONQUEST OF THE NEW WORLD (New York 1992) says Baum wrote an editorial for a South Dakota newspaper saying this:

"The nobility of the Redskin is extinguished, and what few are left are a pack of whining curs who lick the hand that smites them ... The Whites, by law of conquest, by justice of civilization, are masters of the American continent and the best safety of the frontier settlements will be secured by the total annihilation of the few remaining Indians. Why not annihilation? Their glory has fled, their spirit broken, their manhod effaced; better that they should die than live like the miserable wretches that they are."

Unfortunately, yes, he did. Frank Baum wrote two editorials about the plains Indians, it's worth reading the full text, which is up at: http://lupus.northern.edu:90/hastingw/baumedts.htm
And I fully intend to add this information to the Wikipedia article, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Baum's writing speaks for itself, I won't even attempt to justify what he wrote - but if I have to defend him, I'd plead "temporary insanity". In his life and in the bulk of his writing Frank Baum preached tolerance and non-violence, which makes these editorials all the more shocking and disturbing. As a non-American, I know very little about the historical background for these editorials - literally, only what I have read in connection with L. Frank Baum - but I imagine it must have been a very frightening episode of American history, for a man like Baum to have written what he did.

Wizard of Oz/Harry Potter in Arabic?[edit]

I'm afraid I can't find the Wizard of Oz - but Harry Potter is available in Arabic from [2]. In case you ever find yourself in an Arabic bookstore, "Wizard of Oz" is ساحر أوز (saahir oz) in Arabic, and Harry Potter is هاري بوتر (harry booter.) - Mustafaa 07:25, 2 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help! My super-short abridged copy of "The Wizard of Oz" is called something else, I'm pretty sure it says "Madinat ul-Zumrud" which I assume means "The Emerald City". If there is a full Arabic edition of the book, I'm guessing it may also appear under a slightly different title - in many countries of the former Soviet bloc the book is called "Wizard of the Emerald City". I suppose one would have to be lucky enough to meet the shop-owner or librarian who just happens to know. Thanks! --Woggly 10:35, 2 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
Paydirt! I searched for madinat az-zumurrud, and got:
35859- ساهر مدينة الزمرد / تأليف فولكوف ؛ ترجمة نزار عبد الله. - ط. 1. - دمشق، سوريا : دار المتنبي، 2001. - 190 ص. (دار الكلمة - دمشق )
which is: Sahir Madinat az-Zumurrud, translated by Nizar Abdallah. 1st ed., Damascus, Syria, Dar al-Kalima, 2001. 190 pages.[3] Is that the one you've got? - Mustafaa 19:45, 2 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
No, it definitely isn't - mine is only about 30 pages long, printed in Istanbul, doesn't have "Wizard" in the title and has no translator listed. I'm so excited! Am I correct that it also says something like "written by Volkov"? I don't know what that second word after the title is (talik??) If so, that proves it was translated from the Russian version of the book (or else Baum, not Volkov, would have been listed as author). Thank you. I'm as pleased as only a fanatical book collector can be. Now my bibliography will be superior to all others! Mwa-hah hah <evil laughter>!
That word is ta'lif; it means authorship or compilership. That bit confused me, but now you mention Volkov, that makes perfect sense. Excellent! Glad to have helped. If I ever spot another Arabic version, I'll pass you the info! Mustafaa 05:48, 3 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Mount Scopus[edit]

Hi G, a new article you might work on is Mount Scopus. --Zero 06:37, 9 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

I actually just added a couple of sentences to that article, before even seeing your suggestion. You're using my first initial - are you somebody I know? Or did you deduce my identity? (Just curious).--Woggly 07:41, 9 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
You identified yourself on Wikipedia at least twice, but yes I am someone you know. I'm anonymous here though, so if you want to check your suspicions please use email and don't make guesses here. --Zero 07:47, 9 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
True, I'm not being all that secretive - there is even a wikilink from my name in one article to this user page. But I assumed that the only people who would notice are people who know me anyway. I can't email you through Wikipedia because I haven't listed my own email address, nor do I particularly want to. So either we can play 20 questions and stop when I'm satisfied I know who you are, without actually giving your name - or just leave it a mystery! --Woggly 08:46, 9 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Rona Sela[edit]

Hello,

I need hellp. How would you write "Rona Sela", a noted photographer, in Hebrew Script? Sincerely, Dagestan

Here you go:
רונה סלע
If you give me the link to the article she's mentioned in, I'll go in and make sure the Hebrew is entered in properly (sometimes it gets mirror-reversed in the cut-and-paste process).

Thank you very much! I'm trying to find this book of photographs that Rona Sela made. The English translation is "Photography in Palestine in the 1920-1930s". I'm trying to find that book, but it's all in Hebrew. Could you please help me on spotting what the Hebrew title is in this paragraph:

Rona Sela paragraph.jpg

(You don't need to translate. Just type what the title would be in Hebrew based on the above paragraph)

(This will be the last that I ask from you.)

--Dagestan

Okay, this was an exhibit that Rona Sela curated at the Herzliya Museum. The title, roughly, is "Photography in Palestine in the 1930-1940s" - note the difference in decades from what you had listed. There are several Israeli online stores that will ship the book overseas, if you are interested in ordering it. I'll list a couple just to help you out, I have no experience with ordering from them myself and I can't take any responsibility for your interaction with them but I do know these are considered the leading online bookstores in Israel:
DBook homepage, book page, information for ordering in English
Mitos Homepage in English, book page in Hebrew
And last but not least, the site for Herzliya Museum itself, I'm having trouble loading this page but there's a version in English you can peruse on your own.
Good luck! --Woggly 06:01, 20 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much! I'm REALLY sorry that I didn't reply sooner. My IP was banned for some reason. I don't know how to buy the book on the Hebrew sites because I can't read Hebrew without the vowels. Oh yeah, and it looks like the title is from left to right for some reason. Can you give me the title in Hebrew below? That's why I originally ment. Thanks for giving me the websites anyways. The problem is, is that I don't know how much the book costs, and I can't order it because I don't know what they're saying. --Dagestan

That is why for each shop I gave you one link in English. Here's the title in Hebrew:

צילום בפלסטין-ארץ ישראל בשנות ה-30 וה-40

Thank you! No, when I typed in "Rona Sela" or something of the sort in the English sites you gave me, the search results were in Hebrew. --Dagestan

My Apologies[edit]

I shouldn't have assumed you were male. I normally don't, and even thought to myself while writing on Denni's page "Should I assume this?" but for some reason "Woggly" sounded male to me. I hope you don't take offense. May I ask what part of Israel you are from? I traveled there several years ago and hope to return someday, though the current instability makes that seem unlikely in the near future. It is a beautiful country of remarkable people, and I am glad to know at least one of them has found her way here. Excellent judgment, by the way, in suggesting Denni -- he's so administrative that it had never occurred to me he might not be one. Jwrosenzweig 21:41, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)

That's okay, if it makes you feel better, before I checked, I thought you were female, because I once knew a Janet Rosenbaum. I grew up in Jerusalem (except for a year each in Cambridge, Eugene, Stanford and Pittsburgh) but now live in Tel-Aviv. Thanks for stepping in and nominating Denni, I'm so afraid of committing a faux-pas I didn't dare do it myself. --Woggly 22:09, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Don't worry about faux pas too much as far as admin nominations go. If the person you're considering has at least 1,000 edits and 4 months experience, unless they're extremely controversial they're a very legitimate candidate (and it's easy to see if someone's controversial....read their talk page :-). Candidates with 500-1000 edits and 2.5-4 months experience are very much on the fence, so if you're worried about a nomination going bad, you might want to avoid. On the other hand, many candidates have been nominated with this level of experience and time of service, and have been overwhelmingly supported for admin (30 to 40 supports and no objections). Your best approach is always to ask permission on the user's talk page -- usually if you're being a little too hasty, they'll tell you. :-) I'll let you know when Denni has accepted and I've nominated him, so that you can be sure to add your vote! Jwrosenzweig 22:24, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Admin recommendation[edit]

Woggly - I have to tread lightly; I'm not prepared to respond to this suggestion. Wikipedia, for me, has been primarily a place to provide outlet for my passion for teaching. I approach a suggestion of adminship much as an active and enthusiastic field agent might approach an offer to fly a desk, with trepidation and the fear of being tied up by petty disputes, sub-sub-subclause bylaw issues, and phonecalls from superiors and subordinates who have chosen to yell at each other through you.

I truly appreciate your nomination, and would be willing to accept if it allows me to rub virtual shoulders with some whom I rank as gods and goddesses (being non-theistic, that's not as impressive as it might sound). But at the same time, I need the freedom to do what I most love, which is to write.

It would seem that the only way to test the temperature of the water is to get in. I do believe I have the option of stepping out if I feel I cannot fulfil the role. So I accept your offer of support, and await the next set of directions.

Vandalism[edit]

You're welcome. RickK 20:51, Jun 28, 2004 (UTC)

Categories and a children's writer[edit]

Categories, despite their many drawbacks, are useful for people who are looking for a wide perspective over a certain subject. No one category will ever be perfect, but the ideal category (say 20-50 articles) will let you cover a subject fairly well. Huge categories (e.g. Category:Cryptography which I've been trying to trim down a bit) are useless, and arguments on categorization are futile. There will never ever be a philosophical resolution on categorization, but categories are still worth (some) effort.

Now on a different and less controversial subject: since you're interested in children's books, how about de:Otfried Preußler, author of many books, including the ever popular (in my home at least...) de:Der Räuber Hotzenplotz (The Robber Hotzenplotz). He's been translated into many languages, Hebrew included. Yaronf

I've never actually read anything by Preussler, though I've heard of him (didn't he write a book called "The Little Witch", that was recently translated into Hebrew?) I'll admit I though he was a she... I'll look him up.
As for the matter of categories: I agree that they could potentially be useful, but for that there would need to be consensus amongst wikipedians as to what exactly their purpose is and how to use them. I attempted to participate in the debates on Wikipedia talk:Categorization and Wikipedia:Categories for deletion, until I realised that people were approaching the matter with completely different concepts of what a category should be used for, raising perfectly valid and logical arguments that lead to complete contradictions. You think a category should contain 20-50 articles: I don't think everything sorts into categories of that size range, and the current set-up makes it near impossible to create categories of that size consistently, because it's a navigational nightmare to work out which categories are already in use, and the conventions of categorization are not clear so two people trying to set up the same category would need to intuitively generate exactly the same name for their category, which will not always happen.
I do believe that there should be ways of sorting and "clumping" articles together. Before categories, this was done in two ways: through the use of lists, and through the use of the Meta namespace. I see nothing wrong with continuing with this. When I try to follow what is happening with the Categories, it looks like a big, ridiculous dance: two steps forward, two steps back. One could waste all one's time just adding and deleting categories. I'd rather spend my time working on real content. Woggly

Thank you so much for your support[edit]

Shalom, Woggly! Just a little note to let you know how much I appreciated your vote in my favour in last week's sysop election. I feel honoured to be able to play a small part in the development of this fantastic internet resource, and your vote of faith in me meant a lot to me. Thank you so much. Change of name[edit]

Correct me if i'm wrong, but you're the person who requested that I change my name. Let me make you understand the situation a little better. My real name is An-ti Chen, or in Chinese, 陳安迪. I consider your request as descriminatory. Anti-Chen

What a fascinating coincidence, given that your user page explicitly states: I'm somewhat against the ideas of the following people and things ... Chen Shui-bian, president of Taiwan. I was given an interesting Indian name, too: "Cut-the-Bull". For the record, I did not request that you change your name. I respectfully suggested that you change it. If my suggestion offends you, why don't you go ahead and lodge a complaint against me. --Woggly 06:23, 29 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Your suggestion[edit]

Thank you for the kind suggestion. At the current time it would not be appropriate for me to try to take on any more stuff: I have little enough time as it is :-) As for a reading diary, I am by no means anywhere near so organised. I am usually part-way through several books, and often have to go back to try to recall where I had got to. HTH and sorry I can't be more precise :-) --Phil | Talk 10:38, Aug 5, 2004 (UTC)

I snapped. I totally told off IZAK... I can't believe I did it. I told him what everyone has been thinking but have been too polite to say. Now I have no idea what comes next... I still have a positive commitment towards Jewish issues, but I can't possibly recognize any credibility in IZAK anymore. I can't work with him — I won't, and I'm trying to reconcile with my role on Wikipedia. Not easy, as I really haven't told off someone else before. - Gilgamesh 06:14, 10 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Francis Bacon[edit]

Now that you've moved the far-and-away most-referenced Francis Bacon article off of his name, would you kindly fix the massive number of link-tos that are now incorrect? Do you really believe this disambig is required? Cool Hand Luke 08:05, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)

A. Yes, I believe the disambig is required.
B. I fully intend to fix the links, give me a chance please, it takes more than a few seconds. Right now there's nowhere to redirect TO, as I've made a mess of things.
C. Please note that I've asked for assistance from admins to correct it. I messed up, but I'm taking full responsibility and will take the actions necessary to correct this mess. --Woggly 08:07, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Looks good. User:Mirv put him back on Francis Bacon, with a link to the disambig page from that article. When people speak of (or wikilink to) Francis Bacon, this is who they almost invariably mean. Cool Hand Luke
I have a good friend who once turned in a paper on the wrong Francis Bacon, which is why I felt it necessary to clarify. But the current situation (primary article about the Elizabethan F.B., link to disambiguation) is good enough for me. Sorry for the mess. --Woggly 08:17, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)
No problem. Before this night I never even realized there was another Francis Bacon. It's been educational. The notice should be easier to spot if the Bacon article ever gets cleaned up. Cool Hand Luke 08:23, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)

The Curious Experiment in Theory of Mind[edit]

In Mark Haddon you wrote:

one incident described in the book is in fact a recreation of a famous experiment regarding Theory of mind.

Please do tell which! I just read the book and now I'm quite curious. AaronSw 07:48, 23 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I've lent out my only copy of the book, so I can't check the quote for you. But at one point in the book Christopher describes an experiment that was conducted with him at his special school. This is a classic experiment, I think it was designed by Simon Baron-Cohen but don't quote me on this. An object is hidden in sight of the autistic child and another person. Then the other person is asked to leave the room. While he is absent, the object is retrieved and hidden in a new location. Then the child is asked, where will the other person seek the object? An autistic child will classicly point to the new (correct) hiding place. A normal, typically developing child will realise that the person does not know the hiding place was changed, and point to the old (formerly correct) hiding place. I've read about this experiment, and I've also seen a real life demonstration. --Woggly 21:13, 23 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Vfd headers[edit]

Remember to add headers to new vfd articles you create. Before my fixup, it looked like you were claiming someone thought Nasty aliens were an Excelent place for nudism and erotic art. Disturbing at best. --fvw* 11:24, 2004 Nov 24 (UTC)

Phew. I figured something fishy was going on because I couldn't get "Vidraru" to show up, I guess I overlooked the obvious. Thanks for the fixup. --Woggly 11:29, 24 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I removed your delete tag from the Camp cherith article, as it does not meet any of the criteria for speedy deletion. You are welcome to list it on VFD instead, if you so choose. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 20:19, Nov 25, 2004 (UTC)

Point taken, but the VFD process is so complicated that I always spend a good 15 minutes just trying to figure out how it works and what I'm doing wrong. For example, now. I consider myself a fairly intelligent person. This VFD thing is driving me nuts. --Woggly 20:36, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I used to feel the same way, but you actually get the hang of it pretty quickly, after the first 10 or 20 it becomes second nature. Keep it up, there's plenty of material out there to practice on :-) -- The mad deletionist … ehm, I mean: fvw* 23:22, 2004 Nov 25 (UTC)

VfD[edit]

Heya, I just noticed your VfD for Time-Triggered Protocol, Tta and TTTech was only listed on the first page. It didn't matter much in this case, but in general you really should put a notice on all pages to give everyone involved a chance to give their opinion. The current VfD system doesn't really allow for clustering VfDs properly, I generally just make separate VfDs and put "see <other VfDs>" at the top. Alternately, you can have a single VfD and use subst:vfd and then edit the link in the VfD template manually. The drawback to this is that should the article not get deleted any subsequent VfDs for that page won't find the original VfD record. --fvw* 13:26, 2004 Nov 27 (UTC)

True. I somehow neglected to do that, thanks for correcting it for me. Actually, at first I only saw the Tta article, and I added on the other two almost as an afterthought after checking the same user's contributions. But I do think they ought to be clustered. --Woggly 21:45, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for the support! Bear in mind you are in no way obliged to vote for me, it's based on merit not cabalism after all. I am however rather glad you did, because the way it's going I rather need the votes… I entirely agree about the patrolling together thing by the way, there's people you work alongside so much you kind of feel connected even though you rarely communicate. I felt you made a mistake but you did not do so out of any malice whatsoever. I feel we do share the same goal of an excellent encyclopaedia (although we might differ over exactly what that would mean). I hope you feel that I have respected your position, despite my disagreeing with it, and I thank you for taking the time and trouble to clarify it.Dr Zen 11:02, 7 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I must say that I find it a pleasure to debate with people who take the time to explain their standpoint, without losing their temper or reverting to ad-hominem attacks. I do always try to act in good faith, and I don't list pages that I don't honestly think should and probably will be deleted. I try to look for alternatives to deletion whenever possible, be they redirects, marking for cleanup, rewriting as a stub and sometimes even writing a proper article (usually I don't have time for this). I personally rather enjoy "rescuing" pages from VfD (I'm rather proud of Chicken soup). But you're right in that I do still disagree with you: I find nothing wrong with using VfD as a place to "try the innocent", as you put it - not the clearly innocent, but those pages that I find questionable, and likely to be deleted. RfC seems to be the place to get people to arbitrate in an ongoing disagreement, not the place to start an open debate (not saying this is how it should be, just that this how it appears to be working right now). Maybe you're right, and these debates don't belong on VfD, but right now I don't have any ideas for how to get people to pay more attention to other parts of Wikipedia. --Woggly 13:12, 7 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Nina Brausch?[edit]

I assume there's a reason for the spelling change, but the only English spellings I've seen for נינה ברוש are "Nina Brosh" (~50,000 Google hits) and "Nina Brosch" (~1,500 Google hits)..? - Juko 18:07, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Sorry, I should have googled it myself before changing. I was convinced this is the correct spelling (for the model otherwise known as Rutti Brosh or "Vic"), but the google test wins out. BTW, Natalie Nativ is indeed pretty much a nobody, but Yael Bar Zohar could be said to be prominent, depending on what your standards are. She's a model/kiddie TV star/soap actress; granted most of her "acting" has been in commercials, but she's something of a household name, with a place of honor in the gossip pages. Still, I support the move to the other page. --Woggly 19:26, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Removed link[edit]

Why is this link not relevant? As external link to the article Insurance?

I had to remove the link from this question as well, because it's been blocked as a spam link (by somebody other than myself). The link is not relevant because it is a highly specific link from a very wide topic. Most of the people seeking information on the topic of Insurance are most likely not interested in Insurance law in Israel, of all places. Imagine I had linked the article Film to my favorite movie, or the article Literature to my favorite book. It just isn't done. Links to such a specific subset of a general topic should only be in place if they are particularly representative, central or salient, and/or demonstrate a general point. --Woggly 13:32, 20 Dec 2004 (UTC)

reference re six million[edit]

A really good answer.

Abba Hushi[edit]

As you suggested - I also wrote an article in Hebrew. When I have more time, I'll add more information. Deror 18:07, 26 Dec 2004 (UTC)

the trolls who've been hounding you[edit]

crack me up. Every once in a while I peek at reverts on your page and others, just to see what they've been up to. This morning I learned that homosexuality is "a drain on the population". Oh no! Quick, I've got to make more kids to cover up for you! --Woggly 07:12, 4 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, that one was lots of fun. On the bright side, they seemed to be implying that I was Keanu Reeves and J. K. Rowling (and less flatteringly that I was petroleum), so it wasn't all bad. Good to see you back and editing again by the way. --fvw* 07:17, 2005 Jan 4 (UTC)
