It needs complete rewriting: the article is about the blues scale, not the tonic chord. Excised text:
You can simply learn the chords which "belong" together, or you can learn the "circle of fifths". If you know the circle of fifths, it's easy to find the chords for the blues. The "tonic" chord is based on the name of the scale the piece is played in: so the tonic chord in C major is called C. The other notes are the (major)third and the fifth. Played together they are the chord of C (major). A simple way of remembering the notes in the major chord is to sing the intro to "Rock Around the Clock" - the first line is on the tonic note, the second on the major third, and the third line is on the fifth.
