Blanks removed from article[edit]

Blanks should not be left in writeups. Here are some sentences removed from the writeup:

The President of the United States has personally awarded the trophy on ___ occasions.

When Army has it, it is displayed __________.

(this section needs work) - from Winners of the Trophy

These sentences can of course be returned, but with information filled in the blanks. - Mark McCartney (talk) 18:25, 2005 May 25 (UTC)

Good point - I just created the page a week or two ago, and I was hoping someone could quickly fill in the info. A person did fill in the info about where the Air Force kept the trophy. I was able to readd the "President" sentence with the word "numerous" in the blank. (This will also be easier to keep up.) Thanks, Brholden 21:09, 25 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I reformatted the table. I have the winners of the games, but not the scores. If someone knows them, please fill them in. I, in the meantime, will keep looking. Tarfu92 21:56, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

One heavy trophy[edit]

A 2 foot trophy that weighs 170 pounds! Is this a typo or is the whole thing made of lead?Lisiate 00:15, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

How is the Trophy awarded?[edit]

It's still not clear to me just how it's determined which service academy wins the Trophy. Is it whoever wins two (out of three) of the inter-service (e.g. Army-Navy, Army-Air Force, Navy-Air Force) games? What if Navy win the Army-Navy game, Army win Army-Air Force, and Air Force win Navy-Air Force? Who gets the trophy then? --Micahbrwn 04:20, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's whoever has the best record among the three teams in the inter-service games. Usually one team is 2-0, and wins the trophy outright, but it can also be won outright with less than a 2-0 record, as in 1981, when Navy was 1-0-1. If all three teams are tied at 1-1 (or, I guess, theoretically at 0-0-2), it's a "shared" award that year, but the physical trophy stays with whoever had it the year before. For example, in 1993, where all three teams were 1-1, it's a shared award, but because AF won it in '92, the trophy would stay at AF. - Tarfu92 12:24, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Scores need to be re-keyboarded[edit]

In the chart of game scores, each score is entered with the higher number first. The problem is you can't tell who won the game. In Column 1 (Air Force-Army), the first number should always be Air Force's points. In Col. 2 (Air Force-Navy), the first number likewise should always be the Air Force total. After the scores are re-inputted, users will then be able to tell who won each game and why the trophy was shared in certain years. Also: same thing for Col 3 (Army-Navy) -- 1st number should always be Army's points. Oops, I forgot to sign my name the 1st time. Eagle4000 (talk) 03:28, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You can tell who won the game by looking at the color of the box. - Tarfu92 (talk) 16:16, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

21 plaques[edit]

does anyone know what they did with the trophy now that air force should have 21 plaques (17 wins, 4 ties)? The picture only shows 20 plaques, which means it is outdated also. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.239.43.181 (talk) 19:11, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

At least on the Air Force side of the trophy they have removed the plaques that denote ties. You can see that at around the 0:55 mark of this video clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIJSjKCZKOw Though I have yet to see a picture showing this change. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.239.175.230 (talk) 21:24, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A temporary fix. Eventually one or more teams will run out of space? What's the plan then? 68.10.240.68 (talk) 23:52, 14 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Needs new photo[edit]

The photo in the infobox needs to be updated to show the Army side of the trophy since the Black Knights captured it in 2017. To have this mistake up there for more than three months isn't a good look. DavidSteinle (talk) 16:51, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Accessibility problem with scores[edit]

The table of game results indicates the winning team only with color. How shall we change the table to indicate the winner of each game otherwise to comply with MOS:ACCESS? —C.Fred (talk) 23:57, 8 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Two ideas. One, the score could be consistent win or lose (i.e. - team A's score is always on the right, team B's score is always on the left.) or the name of the winner could just be added after the score. Royal Autumn Crest (talk) 18:18, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Two-way rivalries (e.g. Victory Bell (Duke–North Carolina)) have a separate column for the winner. I think including the winner with the score would be much clearer in this case than adding three separate columns and headings, as well as being clearer than consistent score order. Thus, a sample of the table would look like this:
Air Force victories Army victories Navy victories Shared trophies and tied games No game played, no trophy awarded and future events
Season Trophy Winner Air Force – Navy score Air Force – Army score Army – Navy score
2016 Air Force (20) Air Force 28–14 [a] Air Force 31–12 [b] Army 21–17 [c]
2017 Army (7) Navy 48–45 [d] Army 21–0 [a] Army 14–13 [e]
2018 Army (8) Air Force 35–7 [a] Army 17–14 [b] Army 17–10 [e]
2019 Navy (16) Navy 34–25 [d] Air Force 17–13 [a] Navy 31–7 [e]
Reasonable? —C.Fred (talk) 18:29, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I like it. Royal Autumn Crest (talk) 21:54, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Centering Photo[edit]

If someone knows how to center the picture of the trophy in the infobox, please do. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 3665047379b (talkcontribs) 19:28, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
