Who told you so? Polish Solidarnost? :-) Seriously, yours is a Polish spelling. Not byelorusy, not biełarusy, but belarusy. I am wondering why the French anthem you write "as is": "La Marseillaise", but the Belarussian one some want to Russify, others want to Polonize. Thank you, I knew Polish language since early childhood :-). First, we are talking about the State Anthem here, hence the issue is political, not grammatical. Lacinka is not recognized by Belarus state as a second script, and hardly it will be in a forseeable future. Therefore I used the Library of Congess transliteration of Cyrillic, meaning no disrespect to Lacinka, which traces way back into the history. And I will be only happy to see texts of Bialystok Belarussians and of Belarus National Republic in Lacinka (as long as they learn how to use it consistently, since Lacinka doesn't exactly match Belarussian phonetics either). Second, Lacinka is NOT transliteration; it is a second valid script, and as such, it requires its own transliteration (for diacritics).

Yes, Lacinka is a script, not just Latinization.

I am not sure that titles should be without diacritics. And even if they should, the original form should be indicated in the text.

You might be right that the current government doesn't recognize Lacinka. I thought it did.

I agree that here we have a politically sensitive issue. My concern here is linguistic correctness, but you seem to know more than me.

You are right about Lacinka: it is not officially recognized. I was wrong. However, there is an official Romanization [1] (pdf-file). As far as I understand, according to that Romanization the right form is Bielarusy (contains an i and a common Latin l). This is the way the word was written in the title before you changed it. Ok, I am not telling you what to do because there are arguments both for a transliteration (though I am not sure you are chosen the right one), for the official Romanization from 2000, and for Łacinka. In the Estonian Wikipedia we decided (this was not my initiative, this is why I were under a wrong impression) for Łacinka because there seems to be no need to use some Romanization or some transliteration when there is a relatively widely used and old enough Latin script (the Romanizations have been unstable and the current one could be changed very soon; there are different systems of transliteration; Łacinka is well-established and vital). Паслухаць гiмн.

У адпаведнасці з артыкулам 19 Канстытуцыі Рэспублікі Беларусь Дзяржаўны сцяг, Дзяржаўны герб і Дзяржаўны гімн з`яўляюцца сімваламі яе дзяржаўнага суверэнітэту.

Прэзідэнтам Рэспублікі Беларусь была пастаўлена задача стварэння гімна новай, незалежнай Беларусі. У якасці Дзяржаўнага гімна Рэспублікі Беларусь Прэзідэнт краіны зацвердзіў твор на музыку Н.Сакалоўскага і словы М.Клімковіча, У.Карызны.

пры адкрыцці помнікаў, памятных знакаў і іншых збудаванняў, прысвечаных знамянальным падзеям у жыцці Рэспублікі Беларусь, у гонар знакамітых дзяржаўных, палітычных, грамадскіх і ваенных дзеячаў, народных герояў, дзеячаў навукі і культуры;

пры адкрыцці і закрыцці ўрачыстых сходаў, прысвечаных дзяржаўным святам Рэспублікі Беларусь;

у час урачыстых сходаў, якія праводзяцца дзяржаўнымі органамі, органамі мясцовага кіравання і самакіравання, а таксама іншымі арганізацыямі.

Заканадаўствам Рэспублікі Беларусь могуць прадугледжвацца іншыя выпадкі выканання Дзяржаўнага гімна Рэспублікі Беларусь.

3. Дзяржаўны гімн Рэспублікі Беларусь трансліруецца дзяржаўнымі тэлевізійнымі і радыёвяшчальнымі арганізацыямі:

штодзённа - напачатку і напрыканцы вяшчання, а пры кругласутачным вяшчанні - у 6 і 24 гадзіны;

у навагоднюю ноч - пасля бою гадзінніка ў 24 гадзіны.

4. Выкананне Дзяржаўнага гімна Рэспублікі Беларусь пры правядзенні Рэспублікай Беларусь афіцыйных мерапрыемстваў на тэрыторыях замежных краін ажыццяўляецца ў адпаведнасці з правіламі, устаноўленымі Міністэрствам замежных спраў Рэспублікі Беларусь, з улікам традыцый дзяржавы знаходжання.

5. Дзяржаўны гімн Рэспублікі Беларусь выконваецца пры афіцыйных цырымоніях у час спартыўных спаборніцтваў на тэрыторыі Рэспублікі Беларусь і за яе межамі - у адпаведнасці з правіламі арганізацыі гэтых спаборніцтваў.

Even after the enacting of the decree, Lukashenko has referred to the anthem in various speeches to the nation. This comment was made in a New Years Day address in 2004, referring to the Athens Olympic Games: "We believe that our athletes will excel at the main sport event of every four years – the Olympic Games, and the Belarusian anthem will time and again be heard in ancient Athens."

Comma

If there's a comma in the title (My, Belarusy), as appears in the opening paragraph, shouldn't we add it to the title and every time we mention the name? --Rain74 12:28, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

UN Mention

The "Nations in Transit" thing mentioned in the document isn't really a UN document. Yes, the article is on the UN website, but I bet it's just hosted there for one of the NGOs the UN consults with. It's originally from Freedom House, a human rights watchdog; check it out at http://www.freedomhouse.org/template.cfm?page=17&year=2006. Thus, it's pretty clearly a biased source (one I happen to agree with, but biased nonetheless), and that should probably be made clear in the article. Quoting the UN gives it an imprimatur of officialness or universality that's probably unwarranted. 140.247.154.80 18:23, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

I changed it from the UN to the Freedom House. There are a lot of organizations who oppose many of the things Belarus did, including the changing of the national symbols. I just wanted to document some that I have been able to find and isn't from some "fly by night" internet group. Featured article review

I have some resources about the article, and most of the text on the resources isn't covered well on the article. To prove my point, you should try translating one of my sources.
A good example of an article about an anthem that is well covered, but still hasn't attained the FA, is this, and this.It has a clear amount of reference and information about the creation and the history of the article, and also the usage of the anthem in several circumstances.Jeromi Mikhael (talk) 09:12, 18 August 2018 (UTC)

I agree with Jeromi Mikhael's analysis three years ago that this article is not comprehensive enough. The creative process of the song's creation is not explained, the "National anthem proposals" section is underdeveloped, and there is no analysis of the musical structure or lyrics. Orphaned references in My Belarusy

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of My Belarusy's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
