Did I screw something up? My facts completely wrong? Let me know here, and if you haven't already fixed it, I'll be glad to.

evolution vandalism[edit]

Sorry, it is now clear that it wasn't, and I've been told off by both you and Lexor. That section requires a rewrite/new headings anyway. Dunc_Harris| 17:20, 19 Jul 2004 (UTC)

European Union Olympic medals count for 2004[edit]

Hi there,

I wonder would you consider reversing your decision to delete this article. I have substantially rewritten it. A united EU team is not going to happen. I've discussed potential EU co-operation towards the olympics, and kept the table. I believe the table is valid, for us Europeans/EUians to see how the area has fared as a whole. Please comment on my talk page if you still feel the article should be deleted.

Michael Phelps Table Edits[edit]

Hi. Thanks for contacting me (that's more than most people do). Well, here is why I edited the table and thought I was improving it:

  • About the bronze color, it did show on my browser (Explorer version 6.0.2), but regardless of that, I only changed it because the code previously in use ("#c96") was causing the cell to be completely black and thus rendering the text in it invisible. Is it working on your browser? The same was happening with the background color for the head of the table, i.e. the code was rendering it unreadable.
  • Regarding the centering of the table, I don't know if there's any policy that all tables need to flush left, I thought most of them did simply because they are "large" and take up the entire width of the page — which is not the case with this particular table, since it's small, I thought it looked a bit odd on the left. As for the times not lining up, this is easily resolved by adding the following code right before the times in the table: "align="left"|". That is more of an aesthetic issue though, but the previous point does affect the quality of the table.

Your new code suggestion worked fine, I guess the problem is solved. But the code on the head of table was also problematic, and thus it too would need to be fixed. Thanks, Redux 02:12, 21 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Article looking good. Good work! Redux 03:24, 21 Aug 2004 (UTC)

medal counts[edit]

See Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/European Union Olympic medals count for 2004 - it discusses both articles. RickK 07:52, Aug 22, 2004 (UTC)

I picked up your comment on Tannin's page. This is an issue that has been widely discussed in the past, and there is no doubt that the agreed link for non-North American cities, assuming that they are important enough, is Athens and Paris. The Paris, France form is a US usage, which is inappropriate for a major world city outside NAm. Everyone assumes the French city unless it is otherwise qualified.

The links you mentioned were presumably put in by Americans, and need fixing to Paris or Paris, France. jimfbleak 06:54, 4 Sep 2004 (UTC)

saw your comment, and you're quite right. I fixed a few [[Paris, France]] links to Paris, France, and also some of the many (but pointless) [[Paris, France|Paris]] links to Paris. jimfbleak 15:52, 4 Sep 2004 (UTC)

The page has been moved. Noting it here so I can remove the request on Wikipedia:Village pump to reduce clutter there. -- Cyrius| 07:18, 12 Sep 2004 (UTC)
