I don't see the purpose of this list. Non-fiction is too diverse to be treated in this way. We already have lists of historians, biographers, scientists, etc. Non-fiction authors are usually specialists in a particular field, who happen to have written books on their specialism. Deb

In that case, would it be worth making this a list of lists of historians, biographers, etc.? (Like List of fictional animals, only for non-fiction authors.) --Paul A 03:11 Apr 17, 2003 (UTC)
You might want to check the updated (Lists of) Author (s) -- Docu
BTW not to be confused with Writer and List of novelists ;-)

No disrespect to anyone's efforts but this must be the daftest page I have seen on wikipedia by far.

There are far worse. However, I do agree that this one is not very useful. There must be thousands, if not millions, of people who have written non-fiction books. What do I do with a name on the list? If I already know about the person what good does the list do me? Redddogg (talk) 15:26, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
One purpose of these lists is to help us take care of orphaned articles. So, if the subject of the orphaned article is a writer, just add his or her name to the appropriate list of writers. -- -- -- 06:00, 8 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The page has had an average of 25 views a day over the last 90 days. I doubt if that's because the viewers wanted to see the daftest page on Wikipedia. Bmcln1 (talk) 22:11, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Chinese/Japanese characters[edit]

This page provides links to articles on non-fiction writers. In the case of Chinese & Japanese writers, the writer's name written in Chinese/Japanese characters is usually found in the article on that specific person. If you want to see the name written in Chinese/Japanese characters, simply click on the link provided. The Chinese/Japanese characters do not belong on this page. -- -- -- 22:39, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The purpose of the list is to allow people to be identified and for that Chinese/Japanese/Arabic/Urdu etc. characters are sometimes needed and it is useful to add them. Other information can be sought on each page as you suggest. Bmcln1 (talk) 23:16, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone else (besides Bmcln1) think that the non-English characters belong on this page? -- -- -- 19:32, 21 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Part of section not showing![edit]

Part of the H–L appears in the editing mode but for me at least, does not display on the page itself. What's happened? How can it be fixed? Bmcln1 (talk) 22:42, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

New addition[edit]

Hi! I'm Andrew with MicroStrategy. I'd like to bring to editors' attention for consideration for this list, MicroStrategy founder and CEO Michael J. Saylor, the author of The Mobile Wave: How Mobile Intelligence Will Change Everything. Mr. Saylor and his book have been written about or referenced in The Washington Post, Fortune, Computer Weekly, CNN, and Fast Company.

As a member of MicroStrategy's digital marketing team, I will not be making edits relating to Michael J. Saylor or the company myself. Would an editor be willing to add him to the list for me? I kindly thank you in advance.

Regards,
