Page for expression?[edit]

Hmmm... what about a page for the expression, "lone wolf"?

Nonencyclopaedic, as far as I can tell. Try Wiktionary. (If there were encyclopaedia material for such an article, it'd go under "Lone wolf", not "Lone Wolf".) -- Perey 07:22, 7 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Done no one remember the companion book released round about the time of Kingdoms of Terror called The Magnamund Companion? Douglasnicol 19:24, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is already referenced in the top section. I have added it into the book list. Burns flipper 13:44, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete move for Lone Wolf to Lone Wolf (gamebooks)[edit]

None of the links throughout Wikipedia to "Lone Wolf" were changed to "Lone Wolf (gamebooks)" when the new page was created. Click on "what links here" on the "Lone Wolf" article and see how many of these should be to the gamebook page. These will all need updating. The correct link should be [[Lone_Wolf_(gamebooks)|Lone Wolf]]. In future if you need help, please request moves through Wikipedia:Requested moves. Burns flipper 14:19, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tried to address this; most of the links should be correct now. Slordak 20:32, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Books 29-32[edit]

Can we have some more info on this - where is the information coming from? When are they scheduled for release? Burns flipper 07:13, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed them as the author seemd to think the Combat Heroes series were books 29-32. Burns flipper 08:28, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Critical reaction[edit]

Has anyone ever reviewed any of the lone wolf books? Judgesurreal777 18:16, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fans have reviewed them very seriously. These reviews were once hosted at Tower of the Sun... not sure where they would be now ~ Zipp

Where did the book list go?[edit]

And why? Last seen Revision as of 02:55, 4 July 2006. Burns flipper 08:43, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure about the why, but apparently it went here: List of Lone Wolf (gamebooks). I had some comments on the talk page there about that particular article title, though, since presumably we shouldn't need to use disambiguation parantheses for such a list. -- Slordak 12:53, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay - that page had no categories, so I've added some so it's now linked in.Burns flipper 13:56, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nice article; comments[edit]

It's nice to have happened to stumbled accross this article. I used to own a couple of books from the series and remember them fondly. I didn't know they were so popular though. Anyways, it seems to me that this article is really lacking in explaining why the Lone Wolf series is different from normal choose-your-own-adventure books. The battle system and such could use some explaining. Specifically though, I find it strange that the whole random number system was left out. Closing your eyes and pointing randomly to a number on a page always seemed pretty novel to me. Maybe this was just the American version though, I dunno. In any case, the mixture of smart decision making with pure chance is what seemed to seperate Lone Wolf from the rest. Most adventure books just have you make choices, which makes the replay value pretty much zero. Also, I'd like to see the Gray Star side series explained better. I remember that there was something that made it work differently from the normal series but I can't remember what. That might need to go in its own article though. Finally, be sure to double check and make sure all book titles are in italics, I know I skipped over quite a few. --SeizureDog 16:32, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't remember the random pointing thing in the UK books, however, the only books I owned were some of the original ones. Namely up to Kingdoms of Terror. One thing that was different was that your character had to eat every so often or lose health. Douglasnicol 20:36, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm. Well the random pointing thingy was certainly in the US books, I remember that quite well. --SeizureDog 21:48, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Lone Wolf books (in the US) came with a page at the back that was a grid of random numbers, 0 to 9, which were used to generate the numbers for combat and zones that called for random tests. IIRC, the intro also said you could use a 10-sided die instead. As for the Grey Star / World of Lone Wolf books, there was the addition of the Willpower stat, which powered spells and could be burned to use the Wizard's Staff in combat, which (again, IIRC) added to your Combat Skill. The random number table was in all editions across all countries.Burns flipper 07:30, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Someone wrote that "However, the books are not well known outside of Britain." I wish to point out that this is UNTRUE. I am not from Britain, but from Singapore, and I can assure you that the books were popular [for a period of time]. --mh 11:36, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To Fans[edit]

Who have been trying to "update" the article lately, I have not reverted the edits because they are wrong or poorly written, but because you are adding text with no references as to where the information or views came from, which is crucial to maintaining this as a "Good" article. Please add some website links either here or in the text so at least then I can format it so the article stays referenced. Thanks! Judgesurreal777 21:13, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

REPSONSE: Okay, thanks for the notice! Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I'm trying to get some of the other fans to take care of this with some exact links, but all the new information in both the reception and fan base sections can be found at these two websites:

http://projectaon.proboards30.com/ http://www.towerofthesun.com/lonewolf/modules.php?name=Forums

A direct link to the reference should be made as part of the edit. If you're paraphrasing from a site you have in front of you, cite this source before you save the change.Burns flipper 07:12, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Cool, thanks "The Flipper" (great game, by the way). I'm new to Wiki editing, so I'm trying to figure out how to do the code for references- ZD
Okay, so someone is now teaching me how to do the references. I should be able to get those up soon, along with some bew info that should really be big news to fans. ZD

BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS![edit]

First and totally foremost, thank GOD we are getting a reprint of the books, and not only do we get the out of printers, but the final four books of the series!

SECOND, I have set up a very rapidly growing LONE WOLF WIKI!!! [1]. Fan detail, here we come! Tell one and all who love and loved Lone wolf to come and help put together an encyclopedia fan would love!! Judgesurreal777 10:03, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Supplemental articles?[edit]

Where have all the supplemental articles gone? There were ones on the races, history and geography of Magnamund and now they're not linked to anywhere. Burns flipper 12:13, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, there were no references or out of universe information, so they didn't meet notability requirements for their own articles. As such, I transferred them to the Lone Wolf Wiki on Wikia and they are gone from here now :( Hopefully, as Lone Wolf gets more popular, they can all come back. Original 1980s miniatures?[edit]

The later (post-2000) tebletop game is mentioned but there is no information about the range of Lone Wolf miniatures produced by Citadel (Games Workshop) in the 1980s. Do we need to hae info on these too? Redorc01 (talk) 22:02, 14 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
