shell scripts[edit]

What everyone else calls "shell scripts" Bourne calls "shell procedures". And since he wrote the shell, that is what I call them too. -- Geo Swan 04:13, 2005 May 1 (UTC)

Funny story[edit]

Dr. Bourne left Bell Labs and moved to Silicon Graphics, but so did another Steven Bourne. If you called SGI and asked for Dr. Bourne, they would say "Which Dr. Bourne?"

"Steven R. Bourne" - - "Which Steven R. Bourne?"

"Steven R. Bourne from Bell Labs" - - "Which Steven R. Bourne from Bell Labs?"

"The software guy" - - "Oh, OK I'll connect you."
