Rename?[edit]

I propose renaming this article Ríastrad. "Warp spasm" is found as a descriptive term to convey the Irish word in Thomas Kinsella's magnificent translation of the Táin, but was coined by him and a number of other terms could be used to describe the same phenomenon. I'd also like to know if the comic book reference refers to the use of the actual phrase "warp spasm" or not. Enaidmawr (talk) 01:10, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The comic does use the phrase "warp spasm", which it presumably lifted from Kinsella. My own feeling is that, as ríastrad is simply the verbal noun of the verb ríastraid "contorts, distorts" (DIL) and in the sense of a battle-frenzy is only associated with Cúchulainn (there are no other Irish heroes who undergo it to my knowledge), it's not significant enough to have its own article. It would be enough for Cúchulainn's distortion to be dealt with in his article, with a note about Sláine's warp-spasm in the "cultural references" section; and Sláine's warp-spasm and its origins in Cúchulainn's ríastrad to be dealt with in his article. Nobody will be looking up "ríastrad" or "warp-spasm" independently of either of those two articles. --Nicknack009 (talk) 17:29, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
