Betwitched[edit]

I'm really not convinced that the workplace scenes of Bewitched were ever specifically said to be set in Manhattan (or even that the home scenes were set in the NY metropolitan area). Can someone provide a citation saying this is so? Moncrief 22:10, Apr 3, 2004 (UTC)

Yes, I was skeptical too before I put that in. I don't have the references off hand, but I can assure that I researched this quite thoroughly (as if I had nothing better to do) to my satisfaction. I've seen the original pilot set in their Manhattan apt. where they discuss moving to the suburbs. There are specific plot descriptions I've found about Darrin being at his workplace in Manhattan. The village of Westport, Conn. seems to claim to be their home and this supported by quite a few references on the web. -- Decumanus | Talk 22:38, 3 Apr 2004 (UTC)
I'll take your word for it. Thanks. It's just that the look and feel of the backlot set where the at-home part of the series was filmed is so unmistakably Californian that I never thought that the show was set on the East Coast. Now, if one of us really has nothing better to do, we could alphabetize the shows in this article! Moncrief 22:40, Apr 3, 2004 (UTC)
EDIT: Oh wait, duh. They're organized by date. Fair enough. Moncrief 22:41, Apr 3, 2004 (UTC)
You're right. The show was undoubted filmed in California. I don't remember any location scenes except the pilot. -- Decumanus | Talk 22:44, 3 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Since you have live shows set in NY (i.e., SNL), have you considered adding the original Tonight Show, The Late Show or even, for that matter, the Today show? Just a thought... I can see both the reasons for doing so and for not doing so. Moncrief 22:46, Apr 3, 2004 (UTC)

Considered yes. Gumption to do so, no. For some reason I've never gotten around to it (because it's not as interesting to me) but that category definitely needs filling out. I actually created the stub category as a temporary detour just so people wouldn't add them into the main list, because I don't think they really are in the same category as shows that depict people living in NYC. -- Decumanus | Talk 22:50, 3 Apr 2004 (UTC)

East Side, West Side[edit]

I don't have the research right now, but this page omits the 1960's series "East Side West Side". One citation, in a writer's obituary: http://www.nytimes.com/1997/10/11/arts/millard-lampell-78-writer-and-supporter-of-causes-dies.html Stagehand (talk) 14:43, 6 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Madam Secretary?[edit]

I was surprised to see Madam Secretary included in this list, since the show's primary locale is clearly Washington DC. Of course, many other locations come into play in the show due to the main character's travels and various world events, so I would not be surprised that NYC has appeared in a random episode here or there. Nonetheless, it seems a stretch to say that the show is set in NYC. Should it be removed from the list? MuskieDan (talk) 20:48, 14 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Billions?[edit]

The entire show is set in the New York Metropolitan Area, with the two main storylines set in Westport/Greenwich, and Brooklyn/Lower Manhattan. The title sequence is nothing more than the name of the show, a sweeping shot of lower Manhattan, and then credits for the show-should be added — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cobylefko (talkcontribs) 06:16, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
