As a professor, he has given lectures and taught courses on the New Paradigm of Ageing.

Aging: Histories and Transformations[edit]

In this book, Pedro Paulo Monteiro shows that to the contrary one than thinks, ageing is not reserved barely to the elder’s one, is not end. From the conception to the death we are aging. Therefore, ageing is continuous process of transformation of the human as an original being as to be only in its lived time. We are apprentices pilgrims that travel through to temporality in search of comprehension and acceptance, in order to maintain the relationship’s loops and, consequently, to own life. Simply we are passing through and, in that path, we find out meanings to understand better who we are and why we are here. This innate curiosity acts like a propellant force in the search of knowledge that is not exhausted. While we will live we will be learning, because we live by knowledge. In this book the author wants to show that the stability does not agree with the life. Like this, living is to pass for continuous instabilities that enables achieve us always a new forms of being. In each change, the vivid organism aging and specializes itself and evolved. We are flowing in the life’s river; being driven continuously to the experiences that are renewed to each pulsates of our cells.

This book relates the encounter that the author, gerontologist, established with three old women who, through their physical deficiencies,had faced the paradox of the life, discovering new ways for its days,discovering the value of their bodies, has many years anesthetized for the life,because a learning of oppression and limitation. During two years, the author and these women had tried situations and challenges that had become marked the process of aging of them.
