Tiny Mix Tapes: First and foremost, how exactly do you pronounce Dntel? And is there meaning behind the name? Tamborello: It’s pronounced din-tell. I made up the name a long time ago and it just seemed like a good electronic name. I thought about changing it before this new album but I couldn’t think of anything so I just made up a meaning for dntel. So it’s supposed to be short for "don’t tell"- like a more technologically efficient expression of intimacy. I know it’s a stretch.

Pronounciation information for a future article.  :-) - Omegatron 14:43, May 24, 2004 (UTC)

I can't believe David hasn't made a Figurine page yet...Surely he's seen this! Should I? - Bad Juju

_____________

I reverted a recent change in which din-tell was changed to den-tell. The discussion above, along with a radio interview on KCRW, pronounces it din-tell. Also, go ahead and make a Figurine page, I'll help! - Arek

Why isn't there a Jimmy Tamborello Page? I was surprised to be forwarded here. You guys have his 'real name' as Jimmy Tamborello, when in fact his 'real' name is (James Scott Tamborello). - insaneses

_____________

Does Tamborello consider Dntel Experimental Dream Pop? or Indietronic Does Tamborello only play in indietronic rooted bands? What does each of his bands fall under for genre's?

Please merge this into this article[edit]

Per this AfD, the following needs to be merged into the article:

Antihouse is an ambient techno production duo, based in Goleta, California. The duo includes Jimmy Tamborello, later a member of The Postal Service and known as Dntel. This was his first musical group. The duo's discography includes experiments 1-5, and "live at Deep Groove".

PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS DISCUSSION: I'm considering making a James Tamborello page aside from his career as Dntel, along with a James Figurine page, as he has recently released an album as James Figurine. Should I separate Dntel into James Tamborello, James Figurine, and Dntel? Would just James Tamborello and Dntel be sufficient with the James Figurine album being placed in the James Tamborello page?

  • Yes, that's exactly what I was going to suggest as well. Although I think you should have three pages: James/Jimmy Tamborello, Dntel and James Figurine. The first could list up all his projects (including Postal Service and Figurine) and contain a personal biography of the man, while the latter two could just be facts about the project and all EPs/LPs/singles released under the project name. --Tego156 22:41, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree, all the info on james should be on his own named page and not one of his musical project pages. A.Grace 21:53, 11 October 2006 (UTC). Also I am pretty sure that James Scott Tamborello is more commonly known as James Figurine??[reply]

Dntel song featured in Cadillac commercial[edit]

Not sure if it's of merit, but one of his songs was in a Caddy commercial aired during the Super Bowl

"His father" ... "He"[edit]

The History section talks about his mother as an actress and a couple of her films. Then it mentions his father as a songwriter. The article immediately states that "He recorded an album under the pseudonym Antihouse in 1993, and released it in 1994. He began work on the first Dntel EP in 1994, which was not released until later...."

I'm reasonably certain that the "He" before "Antihouse" refers to James/Dntel, but the way it reads one would expect it to be a reference to his father. 98.202.125.252 (talk) 03:41, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dntel - Old German dialect?[edit]

The article states that ""dntel" also means train car in old german dialect." I'm German and I know of no such word. What dialect is that supposed to be? Unless anyone finds proof for that, I'd like to delete it. - Vivness (talk) 12:46, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I second this. German and never heard of it. Deleting. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.67.60.49 (talk) 22:18, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What does it mean that he is a co-programmer?[edit]

Is this computer programmer or something else?
