I'm thinking that this article could do with some history. Where did these programs start? And how successful have they actually been in communities? These type of programs (i.e.- D.A.R.E.) sometimes propogandized when they really aren't doing as good as they're supposed to. So, I'd be interested to see more about how well they're doing.

Also, there's probably a more appropriate category, but I couldn't find one... --Wolf530 05:06, May 24, 2005 (UTC)

This really seems like more of a pamphlet distributed by PAL than anything else. It doesn't seem to be overly objective. "... the cost to taxpayers is small while the returns are great". What are the numbers? What percentage goes to the actual program? Do they have any numbers to back up their claims?

It is, the link to the national page says that they were established in 1940, but gives no reference citation of an actual founding date, claiming origination in Florida. NYC has a page claiming a 1914 precursor and organization under the name in 1932 and 1933, with reorganization in 1936. This is looking like something we'd need a police historian to figure out.Wzrd1 (talk) 00:51, 3 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
