Ed, there are so many kinds of intolerance that I'm not sure you'll be able to get a coherent article out of it. Racial intolerance, religious intolerance (can find examples of all religions practicing it against others, along with examples of having it practiced against them), gender intolerance, sexual intolerance, yadda, yadda, yadda (and I'm sure an intolerance against the phrase "yadda, yadda, yadda"). In other words, I'm not sure the topic is focused enough to be a self contained Encyclopedic Article, maybe a disambiguating one... Rgamble

Sounds like you're not going to tolerate the intolerance page -- which proves my point, ha ha! User:Ed Poor

Additional note... A topic shouldn't be examples only. The history of the topic, the people involved, etc... Otherwise it's merely "What I have seen happen." That is not what I said, Ed. Do you really want a page that will have probably 2-3 pages worth of examples that have no real relation to each other? Rgamble

That would be intolerable. I'm going to call it quits for today. Erase it if you want. --Ed

Will let others decide what to do with it. Maybe it'll work as a 'disambiguating page' separating the kinds of intolerance, which in my mind isn't at all a bad thing. Apologies if you took offense, not my intention though admittedly I'm in a somewhat annoyed mood anyhow.. Which means.. I should head off too, and shall. Rgamble

I moved this from the main page:

Examples of intolerance in the U.S.:

The articulation of clear biblical principles with regard to homosexuality is stamped as homophobia — and condemned as soon as it is uttered. Any suggestion that the Bible teaches us how the two sexes should behave towards one another is countered with cries of 'You're imposing your morality!'

There is a great deal of religiously-motivated intolerance towards alternative lifestyles, including homosexuality, in the U.S.

I don't know what this is, but it is certainly not an encyclopedia article, not even a stub. To start with an example of intolerance of intolerance is more than ironic. I think no article is better than this one. AxelBoldt

This is certainly not an encyclopedia article, it's more of a dictionary definition. If Intolerance is not some sort of technical term in sociology, this page would be better off as a disambiguation page for the various forms of intolerance (lactose intolerance etc). Otherwise its just a bit of poor 'original research'. Ashmoo 5 July 2005 02:12 (UTC)

The result of the proposal was no consensus. JPG-GR (talk) 02:50, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is proposed to move this disambiguation page to the title Intolerance (disambiguation) so that the title Intolerance can be redirected to Toleration as the WP:D#primary topic. A {{redirect}} hatnote would be added at the top of Toleration to link back to the disambig page for other meanings. Please comment below. --Russ (talk) 13:05, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak oppose at this stage. Despite the prefix, for most of the meanings listed in the dab page, tolerance is a term derived from the usage of intolerance in the specific subject area. Andrewa (talk) 15:40, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
