Incorrect title[edit]

This article previously incorrectly stated that this album was unofficially called Condition Critical after the release of the second (also) eponymous album, but this is incorrect. This is the title of a different later album. (from allmusic.com) Postglock 17:20, 30 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Quiet Riot (1978 album) → Quiet Riot (1977 album) – The album was released in 1977, according to Allmusic and Discogs. Pete Prown says 1977 and so does Martin Popoff, who specifies a date of March 2, 1977. The article was moved earlier without reason or discussion. It should be moved back. He made a mistake in his book, ask the man yourself. He is aware of his mistake. Oppose. At the last move request I cited some sources saying 1977, namely AllMusic, Pete Prown's book, and especially Martin Popoff who specifies a date of March 2, 1977. These sources haven't disappeared in the meantime. Binksternet (talk) 23:49, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Martin Strong's Great Rock Disco. books has a 1978 release year. I don't know how reliable the "QUIET RIOT UNOFFICIAL DATABASE" is though.   • It's pretty clear from primary source material in Japanese that this was actually released in 1978, not 1977. The physical album also says 1978. However, it's also true that sources in English tend to cite 1977. With so many conflicting sources, my individual agreement that the current date is wrong is not too helpful. But this is not the only album that is commonly called Quiet Riot, so that title would be ambiguous WP:INCOMPLETEDAB. There has apparently been substantial confusion over the name of the other album, and this Japan-only release seems relatively obscure. —⁠ ⁠BarrelProof (talk) 18:21, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per Dekimasu comments. The physical album is a reliable offline WP:ABOUTSELF source, AFAIK. Sony Music Japan also seems reliable, although not independent, and apparently per Lugnuts (Martin Strong's Great Rock Disco) those are not the only sources that say 1978.   • In case it wasn't clear, I support the move on the merits; it just requires us to evaluate which sources are more reliable, and in this case, while they are not as easy to look at, the Japanese sources are more reliable about things that happened in Japan.
