The "Achievements" section mentions that he is "The only player in NHL history to be named to captain two separate franchises (Hartford/Carolina and Pittsburgh) each in two separate periods." I wanted to copyedit this to make it more clear, but I'm not sure - what's meant by a period? I don't think it would be the period of a game, but it might mean part of a season, or it might mean that he was captain before and after the team moved to a different city. Hmm, well if it means Francis was the only player to captain two seperate franchises (which would have to be in seperate time periods, since no player has played for two teams simultaneously),then Francis wasn't the only one: see Terry Ruskowski ,Mark Messier ,Trevor Linden ,Scott Mellanby etc) & If "Only" means to captain a franchise ,be traded away then eventually return to the franchise (since relocated) then perhaps Francis was the only one (again only if the franchise he returned to ,was relocated since his last stint there). What I meant was that Francis is the only one in NHL history to captain two separate franchises in two separate time periods each: Hartford from 1985-1991 and Carolina from 2000-2004, and Pittsburgh in the 1995 and 1998 seasons. Obviously many players have captained two separate teams, and Gretzky and Messier (at least) captained three. Ravenswing 04:47, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
