Non-notable high school. RickK 05:54, Oct 10, 2004 (UTC)

    • Every time this has come up recently, it has been very, very clear that there is no consensus. Every high school article must be discussed by itself, and an individual consensus on that particular high school article formed. During these discussions many will state general principles that they believe ought to apply to high school inclusion, but currently none of them are more than individual statements. See Wikipedia:What's in, what's out. [[User:Dpbsmith|Dpbsmith (talk)]] 18:18, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete: From this, this is generic and entirely unnotable. There is a Chicago school by this name, or close to it, that might be famous, but there is a "Lake Forest" high school in dozens of cities. Geogre 17:33, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete, no evidence of notability provided. New Trier High School, by the way, is sort of notable as a plausible entry in the running for Absolutely The Very Most Top Bestest Number One Supreme Ace High School In The Entire United States If Not The World. The Harvard University of U. S. high schools as it were. I don't think "We're notable for being almost as good as New Trier" hacks it. Others I expect will differ. • Delete. Schools have a high bar to meet to be notable. --Improv 01:17, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. That the school has probably had a significant role in the lives of thousands of people makes it notable to my mind. --Iceaxejuggler 10:10, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Notable: 1. Worthy of note or notice; remarkable: notable beauty; sled dogs that are notable for their stamina. 2. Characterized by excellence or distinction; eminent: formed a commission of notable citizens. See synonyms at noted. NOUN: 1. A person of distinction or great reputation. See synonyms at celebrity. 2. often Notable One of a council of prominent persons in pre-Revolutionary France called into assembly to deliberate at times of emergency.
1. Which of these definitions of "notable" does Lake Forest High School meet?
2. Do you agree with Anthony that all high schools are intrinsically notable? That is, are you stating a general principle (no factual high school articles should ever be removed from Wikipedia, no matter how low the quality of the article or how unremarkable the school) or are you making a judgement on this particular article about this particular high school? • Delete. Absolutely nothing of note. When you consider that every city and town in the world has some high school or secondary school, we have to establish notability. I wish there was a consensus, but I'm not against the idea of holding these articles up to stand on their own merit as they come in. FWIW, I was a guest at my brother's house over the weekend and he invited me to a church service that was being held in temporary headquarters at a high school. As far as I know, it's just another drop of a high school in a sea of high schools. Place sure struck me as such. - Lucky 6.9 16:23, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • I wouldn't be surprised if this school is notable. Lake Forest is a wealthy suburb north of Chicago, and I wouldn't be the least surprised if this school has an interesting history and notable alumni. However, the article as it stands does not make the case for notability. Delete as it stands. If someone thinks they've improved the article to make the case for notability, say so here and I will look again. -- Jmabel|Talk 23:18, Oct 11, 2004 (UTC)
  • Del. Non-notable. --Jerzy(t) 21:55, 2004 Oct 12 (UTC)
  • D Two addresses and a foundaiton date. IF there is something notable about the place, the clock is ticking ... Chris 06:38, 13 Oct 2004 (UTC)
