Moisiu's roles[edit]

What are some of Aleksander Moisiu's work?

Tolstoy work[edit]

I can't figure this out, but which Tolstoy wrote the Buried Alive play (which also needs to be mentioned, or separated, on that page)? --Ricky81682 00:22, Nov 27, 2004 (UTC)

I think it's good old Leo but I could be wrong. Dori | Talk 21:45, Nov 28, 2004 (UTC)

Page text entirely copied from a website[edit]

According to this page's edit history, on August 19, 2006, editor Korabi replaced the previous text with the entire contents of a "geocities" web page, verbatim, cited only as an external link. Was this done with the writer's permission? -- Deborahjay 14:31, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Albanian stage actor?[edit]

Wasen't he [Alexander Moissi] a German stage actor? We can't take his Albanian origin into consideration since he is know for his occupation and profession, and that he acted in German and in Germany. I don't this article is neutral. And the articles name should be changed to Alexander Moissi. --Albanau 14:58, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Moisiu's parents were Albanian. I think it is notable to mention his Albanian origin, because, after all, genetically he was Albanian. However, you are right to note that he is also Austrian since it is there that he lived, worked and the country that he adopted as his own. Also his name is overtly Albanian. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.119.233.105 (talk) 17:10, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Moved to Aleksander Moisiu/Alexander Moissi[edit]

His Albanian name is as important as his italian name, therefore moved to Aleksander Moisiu/Alexander Moissi. Each search will point here.sulmues--Sulmues 21:07, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The name should be either one or the other. Nowhere on Wikipedia are articles on people named like that, see also WP:NC.--Ptolion (talk) 21:46, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rename 'Alexander Moissi'[edit]

Since he was known all his working life and to posterity as Alexander Moissi, and his grave says Alexander Moissi as can be seen in the picture, and the usual Wikipedia practice is to use the name the person themselves used, I think we can revert to Alexander Moissi. Naturally we'll give his birth name to satisfy the Albanian patriots, but it's silly to refer to him as Moisiu throughout.

The Mark Twain entry has an infinitely better solution (titled 'Mark Twain', then giving his birth name Samuel Langhorne Clemens and adding, 'better known as Mark Twain').Sartoresartus (talk) 03:28, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Name.[edit]

Shouldn't this article be named Alexander Moissi? That was his stage name and is best known by Alexander Moissi in the US and in Germany and Austria? Aleksandër Moisiu was his given name, but outside of Albania, he was generally not known by this name. ExRat (talk) 20:25, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but see discussion above. The Albanian patriots who revert edits haven't got a lot of other people to be proud of, and they care more than we do, so let it ride. As long as Alexander Moissi redirects here... Sartoresartus (talk) 12:26, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
