Anachronism is incorrect[edit]

Who Framed Roger Rabbit was set in 1947. Harvey (play) won the Pulitzer prize in 1945, so the character of Harvey the invisible rabbit would have been well-known (and mosty likely the subject of many such jokes) in 1947. Therefore it's not an anachronism.

Also, even if the the anachronism was correct, it would be an error in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, not this movie, so it shouldn't be listed here either way.

It'd have to be to his head top. The rabbit would also have still been 6'8" (I know they say 6'3.5") in the movie, since Elwood looks up at him. 64.231.15.43

What's the justification for keeping it at 6'8.5"? It seems quite clear from the movie that Elwood P. Dowd states that Harvey is 6'3.5", having just watched it. Also, see the IMDb quote page for Harvey. What is the reference for the 6'8.5"? Kwedin (talk) 02:39, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Related trivia?[edit]

I've not seen this movie, but the 'imaginary' 6 feet tall, costume-style rabbit friend theme is also used in the movie Donnie Darko ("Frank") and The Sims 2 computer game (the "Social Bunny", appearing when a Sims social needs aren't being met and his mental health declines) - depictions quite possibly inspired by this film. Pooka stuff=[edit]

Okay, I have to correct myself. Earlier I stated that the inclusion of pooka was not warranted in this film, because of Celtic myths basically having nothing to do with Elwood's facination for six feet worth of rabbit. However, upon changing the channel to Turner Classic Movies in which Harvey is playing at this time, and actually hearing Elwood say "Harvey the pooka", I have to admit my own wrongdoings for this page and my own bad edits. Is Harvey "real"?[edit]

My memory of the film is that Harvey is shown to be "real" -- when Elwood asks Harvey to sit down, we see an indent appear in the chair cushion. This is not mentioned in the article. WilliamSommerwerck (talk) 15:25, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

At least once at the end of the movie we see Harvey open a door to walk through it. Also he is in the painting that Elwood puts on the mantle in front of his mother's painting. Harvey in Cast List[edit]

The most recent edit to the article, as of this moment, removed the entry for "Harvey as Himself". This AFI page dicusses that there was a credit for Harvey in the film in the notes near the end of the page, and "Himself" is listed in the character column of the cast list. Popular culture references[edit]

There is a reference to this movie in Field of Dreams: near the beginning, almost immediately after Ray Kinsella hears the initial voice (but before seeing the image of the baseball field), his daughter is watching a clip of Elwood describing Harvey to the psychologist near the end of the movie. After a few seconds of the clip, Ray turns off the TV and dismisses the man as "crazy".

The original play inspired a reference in a Daffy Duck cartoon (Daffy Duck slept here) in 1948, two years before this movie was released.
