OH MY GOD DON'T SCARE ME LIKE THAT! Isn't there some way you can warn people that they may suffer from chronic insomnia after viewing a full-size version of this picture? I mean that as no insult to whatever species that is, but DAMN is that scary! --NoPetrol 05:12, 23 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Well, do you think Robert Hooke would be scared of that? - Stevey7788 04:24, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Labelling[edit]

Its funny that this is a Featured Picture, yet the labels mean absolutely nothing. That is, they mean absolutely nothing without a key? Is there a key? Is there a reason this is a featured picture if there isn't a key??? drumguy8800 - speak? 06:38, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well I guess it is featured largely for its historic significance. However, it is wrong to assume there is a key. Instead Hooke refered to the labels in the accompanying text in Micrographia. I've added the relevant extract, in case that helps. -- Solipsist 07:36, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Picture[edit]

I uploaded a much better, high-resolution version of this at Image:Flea.png from the gutenberg version of Micrographia - I think that maybe this image should be used instead, but up to everyone else. There's also no distortions up close in the PNG version, like with the JPEG one. I can't be bothered to change the many many links and don't know how to make a bot. -_-   --Mistress Selina Kyle (Α⇔Ω ¦ ⇒✉) 16:33, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good to me. The new version looks a little flat when its been rescaled down medium resolution, but at full res it is clearly better. I'll probably get around to updating the links at some point. -- Solipsist 10:09, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
