Rizal and Marcos[edit]

The percentage of their Japanese ancestry it too low to consider them as Japanese meztizos. I feel this is exagerrated.--Jondel 06:18, 28 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I really don't know what the percentage is but I do agree. WE could say they have some Japanese blood but a Mestizo? I think it's more appropriate to say they are Chinese Mestizo. But I'm not going to do anything unless we all agree.

What do you all think?

Remove Rizal and Marcos[edit]

I would say to Remove Rizal and Marcos and say they have some Japanese blood. Too small to even consider. Really? You are from Japan? I've never been to Japan. I wish I was there too. I am curious about my other half. Nihongo dekimasu ka? hahaha

Quite suprising that Sinai (Yoshinai) Hamada wasn't included. Hamada is one of the pioneers of Philippine Literature from Northern Luzon. He is half Japanese. His mother is a Full-blooded Ibaloi and related to the prominent Igorot Carino Family from Baguio.

Remove or Fix Link to Japayuki[edit]

This article "Japanese Filipino" has a link to "Japayuki". If you click on that, you are redirected to the article on "Prostitution in Japan". That is both offensive and inaccurate.

As this article "Japanese Filipino" states, "Many are children of thousands of Japayukis who went to Japan mostly as entertainers, helpers, and maids." Some of the Japayukis who were entertainers might have engaged in the sex business, but most were simply hostesses, talking, drinking, and occasionally having meals with male customers. None of the Japayukis were were helpers or maids were at all involved in the sex business!

The redirection from "Japayuki" to "Prostitution in Japan" should be deleted due to its inaccuracy and offensive nature. It would be nice if someone could write an article on "Japayuki" instead. Or else, the link for "Japayuki" should simply go to http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Japayuki&action=edit. JKaki 09:30, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese Filipinos in Laguna?[edit]

On my mother's side of the family, they have Japanese ancestry and they keep the surname of Oca. Does anyone else know of other similar families in the Laguna area of Luzon? (Victoria, Laguna was the actual area.) FRM SYD 03:42, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]


Japanese citizenship[edit]

This is the only historical and landmark case which vindicated JAPINOS children: The Supreme Court of Japan on June 4, 2008, ruled against a law that denied citizenship to children born out of wedlock to Japanese fathers and foreign mothers. It upheld the 2003 and 2005 separate suits (of 10 Japanese-Filipino children for Japanese citizenship), filed by Filipino mothers who proved the fathers of their children were Japanese. Mel Nuqui, executive director of the Development Action for Women Network (DAWN), stated that "the 30-year migration of Filipino entertainers to Japan produced 100,000 Japanese-Filipino or "Japino" children, but very few children were legally acknowledged by their Japanese fathers. DAWN assists Filipino entertainers and Japinos, by helping Japinos locate their fathers in Japan. In 2007, it called for registration of Japinos, and 1,313 Japinos in the Philippines registered (August to October in 2007). Japanese filipine[edit]

List of names (Possible BLP Issues)[edit]

Please don't add names without any citation showing Japanese heritage or ties, unless there is information in the linked article. This issue affects multiple XXX nationality in the Philippines pages.

I just removed several edits by a now-blocked IP editor, but it's a problem for the list in general. For example, Romnick Sarmenta and Gardo Versoza have no support in their articles, and none is given here. These are living people, so it's a WP:BLP issue. I'll remove those names, but for anyone considering adding new names: Every change on Wikipedia needs to be supported by reliable sources. Oblivy (talk) 07:50, 22 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
