"Corona"[edit]

The intro contains clunky shoehorned references to a book called Corona with bogus citations (They feel legit, just not for this). It feels a *little* problematic.

"It is one of the most prestigious and selective universities in China, and was recognized by the Chinese Ministry of Education for it's fabled book 'Corona'.[4] ... Nationally, it was ranked fourth and it's also famous for releasing de book named 'Corona'[7] in 2016"

Does anyone know how to identify the specific edits in the page's history, to maybe recover an earlier version with info that might actually correspond with the citations? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ethan MP (talkcontribs) 17:31, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"211 Project?"[edit]

I have removed this as neither myself (native English speaker) nor my girlfriend (Chinese native speaker and recent Wuhan graduate) have any idea what it means:

"...are the central-China center officially decided for the "211 Project" documents--ensuring system of the Chinese universities and colleges." Jsteph 09:57, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Too much boosterism, really. Charles Matthews 12:49, 7 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Yeah, it must have been copied off the school website, I edited it all down to just NPOV --220.245.178.135 13:45, 11 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

English names of its predecessors[edit]

Why are the English names of its predecessors transliterated in Pinyin? — Instantnood 10:08, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it's kind of silly, but - anachronism notwithstanding - more people can read it this way. Anyone who knows it's anachronistic probably also understands the rationale. Matttoothman (talk) 01:23, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

--Openthedoors (talk) 14:21, 15 January 2008 (UTC) I think its not necessary to merge this article to Wuhan University.[reply]

Official English names?[edit]

Article lists:

The National Wuchang Higher Normal College 国立武昌高等师范学校

The National Wuchang Normal University 国立武昌师范大学

The National Wuchang University 国立武昌大学

The National Wuchang Zhongshan University 国立武昌中山大学

National Wuhan University

Are these English names official?

Better translations would be:

Wuchang State Superior Normal School or The Public Superior Normal School of Wuchang (c.f Ecole Normale Superieure, Moscow State University)

Wuchang State Normal University

Wuchang State University

Wuchang Zhongshan State State University

Wuhan University Center for Animal Experiment[edit]

should a section be added about the WU's connection to the COVID-19_lab_leak_theory page? https://theintercept.com/2021/09/06/new-details-emerge-about-coronavirus-research-at-chinese-lab/ --2600:8804:6600:9:69DA:EEC9:C186:3467 (talk) 19:52, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The relevant question is based on WP:DUE and WP:RSUW: Examining all news articles, scholarly sources, etc. about Wuhan University (in all language sources), what proportion mention the lab leak theory? At first glance, it does not appear to be a very high proportion. — Shibbolethink ( ) 22:23, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
