It was written and adopted at the diplomatic conference held at Geneva from April 21 to August 12, 1949, for the purpose of revising the Hague Convention of 1907 for the Adaptation to Maritime Warfare of the Principles of the Geneva Convention of 1906.

seems to provide the date of the Fourth Geneva Convention instead of the Second, and explains that it extends the Second (1906) instead of the First Geneva Convention. It also explains that the purpose of the Second Geneva Convention (1906) was revising the Hague Convention of 1907 (a year later). I am removing that facts that are inconsistent.
