There is already a fairly long page on Nicolas Poussin and link to one of his famous paintings et in Arcadia ego. I just checked in 2 encyclopedias and they spell it Nicolas and not Nicholas. The error seems to be common on the Web though, so there should be some way to account for this here.

Yes, indeed--how these things came about. I suddenly find myself obsessed with American territorial history and am even further disgruntled with my public school high-school history classes. Everything is just useless minutae and rote memorization until you put it in context, and I'll be darned if I ever had the slightest idea what the Compromise of 1850 was good for until I started researching New Mexico Territory--there's a million examples. By the way, I've adopted your scheme for page edits--only ones that I already have some connection too--for the most part ;)--otherwise I might never stop editing Wikipedia, and I now and again I do need to recall the existence of the outside world. jengod 19:35, Jan 26, 2004 (UTC)

It seems as though that only the negative POV regarding President Bush's service is being maintained here. Snipers have been removing any positive information to skew the entry to make more of a contrast with Senator Kerry's service. Believe me, Senator Kerry doesn't need this "help". If Senator Kerry wants to win the next election, he should start proposing solutions to all the "problems" he's been complaining about. You do know that we do not have any policy that requires disambiguating rivers on one page and, in fact, Wikipedia:WikiProject Rivers suggest a different scheme (than either yours or mine). You don't need to be a sysop. The usual way to get started is:

• Make your own test installation of MediaWiki
• Write some code and submit a patch or two to the mailing list (or directly to a developer)
• Request CVS access
• At some stage in the future, you may need shell access on the servers

Hi again. I know about Edward Lorenz. I went to a public seminar once, while an undergraduate, expecting to hear about relativity and reminiscences about Albert Einstein.

The seminar was about butterflies and a particular set of three coupled ODEs which gave weird results. Heigh ho (a very very good speaker though).

Oh yes, and you're right about Lorenz invariance of the Lorentz force (duh! since when was force a four vector?). I'll dig out my Feynmann and update the page one day.

Colorado Mineral Belt

I think I am the first editor who introduced this topic. It is real enough in the mining history of early Colorado. The early mining towns, now mostly ghost towns or ski resorts almost all fall in this zone, the exception is Cripple Creek. Re: McDonald Observatory

...are you sure about the info being in the public domain? The info on UT sites is not automatically in the public domain, unless it specifically says so...

AFAIK, no public education system can restrict the distribution of informational data as they receive funds from the local government (ie: capital of the people). Such is the case of the University of Texas at Austin and the McDonald Observatory. We had a similar case a few weeks ago in relation to the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez; see [2].

Basically, these type of systems hold propietary rights on all of their publications, but can only restrict press articles and works published by their employees. They can't restrict information published by the institution. For example, I couldn't upload certain images of the Lowell Observatory because it is owned by the University of Chicago — a private institution.

I also had a connection with one public education system, and when I had to do work for it, I had to state that the information had propietary rights but it was not restricted of any sort of distribution. It is something similar —but not entirely equal— to the Freedom of Information Act.
