Nebulous discussion of 2003-4[edit]

I SpaceBunny run the Stewart Home Society ( http://www.stewarthomesociety.org ) but it has not been very active recently and nor have I when it comes to Stewart Home stuff, so I will leave off for a while doing anything to Stewart Home page.

Stewart Home would disagree with him being labeled Anarchist on the Richard Allan page but it is a common mistake people make.

Isn't his correct (jacket blurb) designation Anarcho-Sadistic?

I may use this as an excuse to show Stewart Home wiki and have a wiki web jam with him.

er, not cool, Wikipedia policy is that people should not write their own biographies. - Drstuey 23:59, 14 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Note: On 17 August 2003 User 172.185.179.167 added rather a long text (not wikified) which will have to be merged with the existing biography. --KF 18:02, 17 Aug 2003 (UTC)

Hi 172.185.179.167, you have just deleted the short (wikified) Stewart Home biography and replaced it with what I hope is your own text. You have shown at Mail art that you can integrate new material into the already existing text. So my question is: What are we supposed to do now? --KF 17:24, 17 Aug 2003 (UTC)

Hey 145.24.15.62 that was a great Large rewrite of the article thanks. - Drstuey 23:59, 14 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Feud with green anarchist[edit]

The text below lacks references and includes some material which is doubtful. The feud it mentions went on for several years and was quite complex. I would be happy for it to be included on wikipedia (as I consider it to be notable) but it will need quite a lot of reworking.

For example I have never seen any mention of Class War attacking Home in this manner. Similarly the chronology differs from the one in "Green Apocalypse" (the document produced by Home and Blissett about the feud).

I daresay this will kick off the whole sorry tale once again, but there it is. John Eden 11:55, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In the mid-1990s Home was accused of Fascist sympathies by the left-wing organisations Class War and Green Anarchist. The accusations were in repsonse to a article Home wrote for a mainstream British newspaper in which he mocked the politics of various Anarchist groups. Class War took direct action at what they saw as right-wing propaganda and attacked Home at his home while Green Anarchist delved into Home's past and publicised his admiration for Tony Wakeford, one time member of punk band Crisis, goth outfit Death In June and current leader of Sol Invictus.

Home claimed he had had no contact with Wakeford since the early 1980s when he broke with him over Wakeford's membership of the far-right National Front but was subsequently unable to explain why he wrote an enthusiastic foreword to a book of Wakeford's lyrics in the 1990s. In addition Home claimed he had no contact with Death In June's leader Douglas P, who has also been accused of far-right sympathies. In response Green Anarchist pointed out that Home had borrowed a Death In June song title Come Before Christ And Murder Love for his 1997 novel and collaborated with the group Somewhere In Europe in the mid-1990s at a time when they were signed to NER (New European Recordings), a record label owned by Douglas P. The fact that Douglas P also musically collaborated with Somewhere In Europe, claimed Green Anarchist, made Home's claim he had no contact with Douglas P unlikely.

Most damningly of all, Green Anarchist claimed Home had written sleeve notes for an early album by Nazi rock band Skrewdriver. Home strenuously denied the accusation.

Hi. I hope Home didn't deny the accusation TOO strenuously, because it's a Screwdriver records don't have liner notes. The first one has someone biting on a screw. The second one (the singles comp from when they were crossing the fence) has a line drawing of some boots. The third one has some Viking dudes (in authentic horned helmets!) runnin' upshore with a flag. The flag has a plus sign on it, because it was manufactured in Germany, where swastikas are a jailable offence. The other ones have stuff like giant swords held at crotch level with blood dripping out the tip, and a snap of the lads with some bowling trophies. (The Rise and Fall of the Nine-Pin Reich!)

In response Home launched various media attacks on Green Anarchist, including a personal attack on member Larry O'Hara whch many considered to be homophobic, and wrote several articles attacking Death In June without mentioning his involvement in the situation.

Nevermind that Tony Wakeford has stated that his involvement with the National Front "was probably the worst decision of my life and one I very much regret," and that various members of his band (including his then wife of eight years at the time) "would be at best discriminated against or at worse dead if a far-right party took power" and further that "none of the artists I work with hold such views either, and I doubt they would want to work with me if they thought I did." These people need to find a new target, like the real nazi organizations that are terrorizing people.99.54.188.128 (talk) 14:53, 14 June 2011 (UTC

You're right, it is very doubtful material[edit]

I'd never heard most of these claims before, it seems that someone's using this Wikipedia entry to settle personal scores and slag off Stewart Home. This account is innacurate, partisan, one-sided. I think you'd better work on it, and we should take care that nobody tries to insert it again. --- R.B.

I remember some of this stuff in Vague Magazine many years ago. Home was associated with the magazine when it published a piece called "The Animal Front is a Nazi Front". All very amusing, but god knows where anyone would find a reliable account of the actual facts with Wiki-worthy references.

KD Tries Again 18:53, 11 June 2007 (UTC)KD[reply]

Which bit is partisan? It is undoubtful that Home wrote such an introduction to Wakefords lyrics, and that he wrote that newspaper article, and that he was attacked by Green Anarchist. Home has now made some lame claim that the introduction was a 'joke' but that is no reason that these very definite facts should be overlooked. --KharBevNor (talk) 12:44, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

British Smear[edit]

I was shocked to see that someone had smeared Stewart as British when it is very clear that his mother was Irish - even though he was adopted and assumed a Scottish name. Where is the evidence that Stewart has ever shown signs of integration into the British way of life that politicians like Tony Blair espouse. I have removed it.Harrypotter 21:16, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's not really the point. Stewart was born in, lives in, and loves London. Almost all of his books are set in London and engage directly with the British state. Whether one integrates or not, his nationality and engagement are definitely British. I have not altered the page, but would suggest doing so. The1james 12:29, 15 January 2007 (GMT)
