Untitled[edit]

I removed the line about Spain only being in the movie because the film was made in Spain. There is no references given that support this opinion. In fact, the Wiki article on the Boxer Rebellion mentions Spain as being a participent:

"The legations of the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United States, Russia and Japan were all located on the same city block close to the Forbidden City, built there so that Chinese officials could keep an eye on the ministers - the legations themselves were strong structures surrounded by walls. The legations were hurriedly linked into a fortified compound and became a refuge for foreign citizens in Peking. However the Spanish, Belgian, and German legations were not in the same compound. Although the Spanish and Belgian legations were only a few streets away and their staff were able to arrive safely at the compound, the German legation was on the other side of the city and was stormed before the staff could escape. "

Siege of the International Legations does not mention Belgians, Dutch or Spanish. However Talk:Siege of the International Legations calls them "small trade offices". --Error (talk) 01:50, 21 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Spain[edit]

There appears a Spanish ambassador and Spanish presence. I guess that it is more an acknowledge to the fact that the film was shot in Spain with partial Spanish production rather than historic fact. Is that so? --Error 03:11, 27 Feb 2005 (UTC)

El diplomático español olvidado en la película 55 días en Pekín y en la historia claims that the Spanish ambassador Bernardo J. Cólogan y Cólogan was the most veteran ambassador among the Peking legations and had access to the empress. He also was key in the Treaty of Xinchou --Error (talk) 02:05, 21 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Has a role as a concubine, she may be list in the the IMDB file as Soong Ling ... - Sparky 01:16, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering about this myself. I recently uploaded a set of fashion photos to Commons taken during the making of this film, several of which feature a model identified as "Soong Ling". Is it the same woman? --Muzilon (talk) 00:50, 5 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Point of View[edit]

The film however gives little background on how the various colonial powers exerted influence over China, nor of the humiliating military defeats suffered during the Opium Wars, a great source of outrage that drove many Chinese to violence.

Stated in the Plot Section, is this a possible Point of View violation? It by no means sounds like a neutral statement.
