An article which you started, or significantly expanded, Zimmern Chronicle, was selected for DYK![edit]

Updated DYK query On January 3, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Zimmern Chronicle, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Süleyman Çelebi or Süleyman I[edit]

Hi, Andreas, you have added Arolsen Klebeband 01 449 4.jpg an image created by you to the article Süleyman Çelebi (an Ottoman prince) . You have claimed that the subject of the image is Süleyman Çelebi who died in 1411. I find this assertion quite questionable. The date of the engraving as well as the title Svltanvs Soleimanes Chan imply that the subject of the image may be Süleyman I the sultan who died in 1566 rather than Süleyman Çelebi . Can you please check it and give your opinion. Thanks. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 15:18, 23 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No, it is Süleyman Celebi all right. commons:Category:Wahre Abbildungen der Türckischen Kayser has the whole series. It is No. 3 in the series. Süleyman I. is much later, as no. 26, in the series (commons:File:Arolsen Klebeband 01 461 3.jpg). The first couple of images are No. 1 Osman I, No. 2 Bayezid I., No. 3 Süleyman Celebi, No. 4 Musa Çelebi, No. 5 Mehmed I. You see, three of the five sons of Bayezid I who fought each other in the Ottoman Interregnum are together in the series. Isa and Mustafa are missing. You may want to consult the Latin poems for clarification, or, if you read German, the German version at http://sammlungen.ulb.uni-muenster.de/uo/content/pageview/1266614 and http://sammlungen.ulb.uni-muenster.de/uo/content/pageview/1222364 All that said, all those images are a) of Western origin and b) posthumous, of course. --AndreasPraefcke (talk) 16:06, 23 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
