St. Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows[edit]

There are quite a number of saints, Blesseds, and famous people who were born in Spoleto, or lived there or died there or are otherwise associated with the place; off the top of my head St. Pontian (not the pope, the other one), Pope Pius IX and the Blessed Pietro Bonilli; a quick websearch turns up SS. Lawrence, Gregory, Christina, Concordius of Spoleto, S. Isaac of Monteluco (the hill immediately overlooking the city), etc.

This is not the place to plug St. Gabriel of OLS, then. On the other hand, the link is perfectly appropriate in the article Saint Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows). — Bill 20:09, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Monuments the subject of paintings[edit]

The addition, that many of Spoleto's monuments are the subject of paintings, would be interesting if a list of such paintings were given; but just baldly, why any large town in Italy has been painted by lotsa people, and the sentence adds nothing. (I'm not too sure — I haven't checked recently — that Rome and Venice have such a sentence, although they're even more painted than Spoleto.)    As for actual paintings of Spoleto, I'm fairly familiar with the area and with this kind of art, and can't call to mind any; they must surely exist, if only as the backgrounds of innumerable paintings of the Madonna and Child, etc. — but a list would be useful. Link(s) to "Cardinal Albornoz"[edit]

Rather than cardinal Gil Alvarez De Albornoz, just Cardinal Albornoz, with one fewer distracting link: anyone who feels the need to look at an article cardinal in this connection will also, a fortiori, need to look at Albornoz; and the Albornoz article links to the article cardinal. In general, there's starting to be too many pointless links in the articles (like linking English every time it is stated what some foreign-language term is in English....) Why I feel "Roman theater" is misleading and "Roman theater" is better[edit]

(All a rather minor point by the way, but in my opinion, better anyway.) A link across the entire dotpoint strongly suggests to the person who is clicking on it that they're going to be taken to a page about the Roman theater in Spoleto — whereas they'll just be taken to a general article on Roman theaters. Notice, for example, that the link "Duomo (Cathedral) of S. Maria Assunta" is intended to go to a page on that particular building; a link "Duomo (Cathedral) of S. Maria Assunta" would take one to the article Duomo. Bill 11:27, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
