Subcomandante Marcos[edit]

The part under subcomandante Marcos is very poorly written. I've edited out a few grammatical errors, but some parts I simply can't understand. Very poorly sourced biography of a living, pivotal, former Mexican president[edit]

This biography, though it appears to be well written and fairly balanced, of a controversial, living, former Mexican president who is credited with a pivotal role in Mexican political history has only two references, neither concerning his actual political career. Another commenter (Dec 2013) uses this rubric to give this input: I find the section about the Zapatista crisis incredibly confusing, full of direct contradictions, badly written, and leaving a lot of uncertainties about the process of identification of Commandante Marcos. It is not at all clear what role Zedillo plays and why this section needs to be so long in his biography. Furthermore, the section is full of useless editorial comments, like the literary speculation on how high school friends often take different pathways in life. I am by no means qualified to bring knowledgeable improvements to the text of the article but anyone who cares about proper biography of a living president should move fast to eliminate the terrible confusing and subjective text. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.51.64.203 (talk) 12:14, 20 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pun?[edit]

I changed the phrase «Bienestar para tu familia(a pun in Spanish meaning both "Well-being for your family" and "Welfare for your family")» to «Bienestar para tu familia», since no such pun exists. «Bienestar» means «welfare» in «estado de biestar» (for «welfare state») but never by itself («asistencia social» is used instead). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.151.162.27 (talk) 16:59, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

He is now member of The Elders[edit]

He is now part of the group, to work on solutions for seemingly insurmountable problems. I think it is likely that he will work for The Elders (organization) until his health no longer permits it. I am terrible at writing, but still, the fact that he is now part of this group needs to be worked into the article, also (unless he leaves) it will affect all of his future life and work. 188.104.124.145 (talk) 19:34, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Undue[edit]

I entirely agree that the Zapatista section is way too long. It is largely duplicated in the 1995 Zapatista Crisis article. The link to the main article should take readers there and that portion in the Zedillo biography should be briefly summarized. Inconsistencies[edit]

In the introduction, 2nd paragraph, it is stated:

→ (although President Zedillo himself did not deviate from the neoliberal policies of his two predecessors)

Under the heading Presidency (1994-2000), it is stated:

→ During the first part of his presidency, he took inconsistent, zigzagging policy positions

and in the subheading Financial Crisis of 1994, it says:

→ Salinas claimed that President Zedillo made a mistake by changing the economic policies held by his administration

Put together, they read like an opinion piece. I'm editing the second one because "zigzagging" without examples is a loaded description. I'll have to defer to those who know more about the economic history of Mexico to tackle the content.
