From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mozilla-tan was proposed for deletion. This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was to keep and merge the article.

Grew out of OS-tan. Doesn't appear to provide any information not given in the OS-tan article; in fact, it seems to have been created for website pimping, as external links to the same websites appear repeatedly throughout the article. No other OS-tans have their own articles, which, besides showing no evidence of precedent, also suggests a bias towards Firefox. Delete. --Slowking Man 07:02, Nov 17, 2004 (UTC)

  • Merge back into OS-tan sans all the external links and Redirect --Phil | Talk 08:13, Nov 17, 2004 (UTC)
  • Merge. This was probably taken out of OS-tan because of the 32kb limit. I am a big fan of OS-tan, mind you, but perhaps that means that article should be trimmed? Ashibaka tlk 18:14, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • There's probably 16kb of external links to 17 different versions of each girl :-) --Phil | Talk 18:32, Nov 17, 2004 (UTC)
      • The entire Mozilla-tan page, minus the VFD, is 3,281 bytes. --Me at work 23:46, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete: <sputter> <fume> All this for two cartoon pictures?! Are you joking? When did the bit about "encyclopedia" get dropped for "entertainment?" Sorry for being uncivil, but jeez Louise! This is fan fic about a corporate logo! Even Mr. Sparkle would be proud ("What a brave corporate logo!"). Geogre 19:08, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • Delete:I agree. Usually encyclopedias (as far as I know) are for gathering information, not showing pictures of interpretations of software applications.````
  • Spam. Remove external links, merge descriptions back to original article. Also edit the Mozilla girls section for consistency with the rest of the article. - Mike Rosoft 22:52, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Do not delete under any circumstances. But this is inconsistent, so merge back into OS-tan. Screw so-called kb limits. D. G. 00:35, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Merge back into OS-tan and trim the external links. Andre (talk) 20:41, Nov 19, 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Merge back into OS-tan article. DCEdwards1966 04:44, Nov 20, 2004 (UTC)
  • Merge. It was inside the OS-tan page. Just someone split this into a new page. minghong | Talk 19:59, Nov 20, 2004 (UTC)
  • Merge. It is obviously part of the OS-tan article. cesarb 23:09, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Merge. Back to OS-tan I say. - Ta bu shi da yu 02:59, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep, and failing that, Merge. Did you actually read what OS-tan is? It's 4chan only. The other things on there take up too much page for 'unofficial' things, so the seperation makes sense. I would in fact go so far as to say DO NOT merge into OS-tan, and drop each "unofficial" in its own section on the items page, like the Norton doctor goes on the appropriate Norton page, and so on. Then, the OS-tan page could contain a "list of items which have *-tan figures", thus trimming the OS-tan page, making all the other pages have more information on the 'fanart' surrounding them, and making the world a better place (tm). --Me at work 23:46, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • In fact the only 'unofficial' thing in OS-tan is those under 'Other similar designs' section(i.e. those not designed by Futaba users), including Mozilla-tan. Others including Norton Antiviurs is part of OS-tan officially. --kctsang 01:33, 23 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Merge and Redirect into OS-tan. It's quite relevant. --Spe88 23:50, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep/Merge. If it makes OS-tan too long, put the firefox figure in the firefox page, and the thunderbird figure in the thunderbird page. That works for me, and would probably be the best way to do it. --TIB (talk) 01:58, Nov 23, 2004 (UTC)
Aside: 3 Deletes, 11 Merge (Counting "Keep or Merge" as Merge") --TIB (talk) 15:34, Nov 24, 2004 (UTC)
