hi, what is do u mean when u say nairobi is not a province rather an area? what if it comes to an exam a student is required to name the province of kenya u mean the student shd say 7 not 8 and we well know that we have a Provincial Commisioner in NAIROBI? Just reply this plz.

Census 2009 Data[edit]

According to the census of 2009^[1] Kenya consists of 8 provinces which are further divided into 47 districts. The data in the current article is based on the 1999 census and needs updating. John Mudie (talk)

Confused by classification.[edit]

In reading the article as a non-Kenyan, I am confused by the differences between "Local Authorities", "Administrative Divisions" and "Constituencies". Could someone please elaborate in the article and provide sources for the information? I used to live near Githunguri in the Kiambu District of Central province, but I wasn't aware of the finer political divisions and what they all meant as far as Kenyan politics. I'm sure others reading the article know even less about Kenya, so it would be nice to have an explanation of the relationship between all these types of division. - Parsa 20:01, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Provinces form part of the 'Provinicial administration' (which includes districts, divisions and so forth), whose staff are all appointed by the office of the president. Local Authorities are: City, Municipal, town and county councils that mainly represent urban areas. Rename this article[edit]

This article should be renamed as "Former Provinces of Kenya". I don't think I can do that as an unregistered user.

Not sure if renaming the article would break of the links from other articles that link to this one.
