Warning users

You might warn to warn users such as User:68.12.20.87 with templates such as {{test1}}, {{test2}} to {{test4}} before intiating an RFC. Also, RFC tends to be reserved for user conflicts, simple vandalism can be listed over at WP:VIP once the user has been warned enough times (usually at least 2 or 3, test4 is used as a last warning). If a page is a duplicate of another page, or covers the same content but in a completely inferior way, there is no need to place it on AFD. You can just make a redirect to the other page instead. Jason

Ken was a stunt choredinator, not Jason. If he did any of them it was as a stunt double (which is hard to do since Kane Hodder is already a stunt man). Since Kane played "Jason", his stunt double doesn't count as a "portrayal" even if it was Ken (which you would need a source to prove that anyway, since Kane is already a stunt man and did his stunts). It isn't like the earlier movies where you had "unmasked" and "masked", because they were technically doing the same job, playing the character of Jason, not performing a stunt that the other actors couldn't do. Again, as I said, that doesn't make Ken the portrayer of Jason (especially in only 2 shots) when it's meant as a "stunt double". He wasn't acting, he was doing a stunt (granted "acting" is a loose term with this character). Stunt doubles do not count as "portrayers", otherwise Robert England wouldn't be the only person to portray Freddy Krueger. Kane Hodder portrayed Jason in Part 8, while Ken stood in as a stunt double for a couple scenes because of "time restraints". That doesn't classify as an actual portrayal. John Wydell

This "biograpy" contains copyrighted and unsourced information. The author of this article, CyberGhostface has inserted a number of copyrighted pictures which he cites as being "low-resolution screenshots", when in fact they are not. These pictures are fully copyrighted, the copyright being held by Lions Gate Entertainment Corporation. The article contains unsourced information, and any edits and additions made to this article by wikipedians are reverted back to the original article by it's creator. I've never seen that. I've only seen the policy that I provided a link to.

If you want to call an admin, that's completely within your right to do so. I'm not sure calling the Notability guidelines "Godawful" is particularly helpful in that regard. No, that's actually just a list of some places editors can go to in order to find primary and secondary sources — nothing there says to use them as links. In fact, the specific policy at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Examples says, "Wikis, including Wikipedia and other wikis sponsored by the Wikimedia Foundation are not regarded as reliable sources. However, wikis are excellent places to locate primary and secondary sources."

As for whether a featured article or a Good Article lists wikis, that's irrelevant — we're not supposed to use examples of non-policy things in other articles to support a non-policy thing in an article in question. As well, articles continue to be edited even after reaching Good Article status, and sometimes non-policy edits and even vandalism can remain undetected for weeks or months. Positions need to be defensible on their own merits.

Look don't put your personal issues inconflict with the article Trunks fully showed Super Saiyan 2 characteristics whether you like it or not. He clearly passed super saiyan when Baby 1st attempted to take control of his body. That picture clearly shows that. Super Saiyan has no energy coming from their body at all only an aura. Thank You

The Fun Destroyers

The Fun Destroyers are the rot that is slowly eating away at Wikipedia. If something doesn't satisfy their small-minded, tunnelvision version of "notability," then like mindless, shrieking harpies, they fall upon it with cries of "cruft" and "trivia" and "non-notable" and get it deleted, sucking much enjoyment out of Wikipedia for everyone else. Well, no more, I say. We must stand up to the Fun Destroyers and keep this site worth coming to!

I can see both sides of this argument. On the one hand I side with you, thinking that Wikipedia is created by the users and should reflect what the users are interested in. But there's another part of me that agrees with the Fun Destroyers, that achieving five minutes (not even fifteen) of notoriety for appearing in the funny YouTube video du jour doesn't necessarily mean that you deserve an encyclopedia article devoted to you. Santa Claus

I enjoyed your addition to "my" Santa Claus article, pointing out that, by the end of the film, Santa still hasn't left Mexico City. One of the many, many things that I've always thought was so amusing about that movie was that its Santa Claus is perhaps the slowest Saint Nick ever. Some Santa stories talk about the magic involved in Santa being able to deliver all those presents in one night...Mexican Santa Claus would be hard-pressed to deliver presents to a single trailer park in one night. I also enjoy the fact that Lupita's dad goes job hunting in the pre-dawn hours of Christmas morning, that it's snowing inside Santa's extraterrestrial sweat shop, and that Pitch plans to (1) finish off Santa forever and (2) make him angry. Jesse Walsh

I'm curious as to what you are expecting to find for the character, because he's fairly non-notable in the series itself. The film was criticized for having homosexual undertones, but anything that is remarked about the character himself can easily be said on the film page (if it isn't already).  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 01:09, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

But being mentioned in spin-off books isn't considered "significant coverage in third party sources". It's just more plot sources. I think Nightmare needs a "List of characters in A Nightmare on Elm Street page, similar to List of characters in Friday the 13th--as just about everyone from the films have almost no real notability, but have appeared in various mediums of the series (thus, mentioning a comic book that isn't directly about the film the character started in might not be relevant on the film page, but is relevant on a list of characters page).  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 01:17, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

WP:NOTE--"A topic is presumed to be notable if it has received significant coverage in reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject." That means, being mentioned in a comic books does not make one notable enough for an entire article devoted to it on Wikipedia. That also means that just because you reject the notability guideline that you don't have to follow it. It may be a guideline, but unless you can show that Jesse Walsh is an exception to the rule then WP:IAR doesn't apply. Also, making the bare minimum requirements of notability doesn't mean the topic deserves an article either, because if there isn't enough real world content to support the page it may just be better served on a page that covers are larger scope of the subject. So, in your search of those spin-offs you find secondary sources "independent of the subject". That means, him being mentioned in a book about A Nightmare on Elm Street wouldn't constitute "independent of the subject". You asked for "a couple of days" (which is 2), and you can have 3 days to find your sources before I simply AfD or put a merge proposal up on the article (probably the latter).  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 02:05, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

That wasn't Jason though...it was his spirit in the body, but not him physically talking through his own body. That is what the statement is about. On a side note, that whole segment of that film seemed out of place with the rest of it. Why did he not speak in any other body for the entire film, yet when he jumped into the officer's body he all of a sudden begins talking perfectly. I noticed you reverted my edit to the article linked above, and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind explaining why. Although the AfD clearly didn't come to the conclusion that I thought it would, a number of commentators agreed that the "cruft"--that is, the section I deleted--needed to go. Since our job as an encyclopedia is to provide an overview of the subject rather than an indiscriminate collection of information, I was hoping that you could explain (either here or on the article talk page) why you feel the inclusion of this section is vital to the article. Regarding your comment on my page, well, 1) I don't believe there is such a thing as cruft, and 2) if there is, this isn't it. I have absolutely no interest in the USoUD, and have no desire to listen to the song or watch the video, but if I'm ever curious as to what icons of pop culture made it in, and how they were removed, I want that list there. Well, the question you have to ask is not so much why it shouldn't be removed but why it should be included. For example, we could write extensively about the specific painting techniques used by Michelangelo, but such a long discussion of his brushstrokes would be out of place in his general biography. In this case, we also have to look at the question of undue weight--that it, does the inclusion of this extensive list place an undue focus on the specific content of the video rather than its overall notability as web-based content. I'm of the strong opinion that it does, which means that the inclusion of this list violates Wikipedia's policy on neutral point of view.

In addition, the inclusion of this content serves as a guide to the video, which is contrary to Wikipedia's nature as an encyclopedia. And finally, although there was never a formal discussion on its removal, the deletion discussion linked above carried with it a strong suggestion that the excess content in the article be removed, which you can argue constitutes a level of consensus on the matter. --jonny-mt 05:15, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Monkey Island merges

Hi there, I had the impression the changes would not be controversial, but I was clearly wrong, sorry.

I've tried to explain my decisions a little bit on Talk:Monkey Island (fictional world), and I personally think the page gives a much more coherent view of Monkey Island's fiction as a whole, where it was previously pretty fragmented. But I'm repeating myself :).
