San[edit]

I have used the word mountain for san (as most people do), even though mountain range might be more accurate. Any thoughts?

I think that's fine... I'm not familiar with the mountain(s) in question, but normally a mountain range would be san-maek (산맥), a la Sobaek Sanmaek (Sobaek Mountains) or Taebaek Sanmaek (Taebaek Mountains). As in English, that term is normally reserved for a very long chain of mountains. However, since there is no standard plural/singular distinction in Korean, it might be reasonable to translate it as "Gyeryong Mountains," if indeed there are more than one.

By the way, I assume "energy" is gi? If so, perhaps that should be clarified... the Western reader might assume a connection with natural gas or nuclear power. -- Visviva 08:54, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I don't think that the number of "peaks" should sway us one way or the other. A peak (봉) is usually just a local maximum of altitude, rarely a mountain in its own right. Even quite small mountains can have several peaks, and I venture that Seorak-san and Kumgang-san have hundreds of them. -- Visviva 13:42, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Currently there is no convention. The government in South Korea use Mt. XXsan. The most important thing here is to have redirects. Kokiri 28 June 2005 15:44 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Gyeryong logo.gif[edit]

Image:Gyeryong logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
