Discussion[edit]

I just clarified some of the stuff on Quorthon's name. There is still dispute about his name and relationship to the head of Black Mark, so the article should reflect that. All we know for sure is that he was known to Black Mark people as Ace. Black Mark also gives his year of birth as 1966, so I changed that. --Tkinias 12:16, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Black Mark gave his name as Ace Börje Forsberg. Considering his dad owns the label, shouldn't we take it that it's his real name? rob 01:31, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I feel as though this section on Quorthon could be expanded, as so much more information is available on him, especially in consideration of his monumental contributions to metal music in general. I am currently working on such a biographical article, and I would appreciate help if any are willing, send me a message, or my AIM is 'Eldvindr'. --Eldvindr 00:50, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pugh Rogefeldt[edit]

Pugh Rogefelt is a swedish Prog musician. It would be extremely odd if this man was Quorthon. Especially since Pugh Rogefeldt is still alive, and that he released his first album in 1969. Living in Sweden, I do Not think there are (have been) Two Pugh Rogefeldts.

  • Wait. But if We're not sure about his name, and a guy with that name is still alive...THEN MAYBE QUARTHON LIVES!!! I WANT TO BELIEVE!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.85.214.85 (talk) 02:27, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Instrumentalists on the records[edit]

Hi guys.

I grew up in Uppsala not awfully far from Stockholm where Tomas Forsberg lived. I went to the same high school as Gustaf Jorde of Crematorium, later Defleshed - and all the information of Bathory I got from him. This was 1988-1991. What he told me is that Quarthon (Tomas Forsberg) played ALL the instruments himself on the records - which must mean that the other two demons where also him (bass & drums). He is also said to have hanged the song microphone from the ceiling when recording vocals bending the head back while growling so to give the harsh vocals. Well I did not hear this first hand but I was pretty sure Gustaf knew what he was talking about.

Blood Fire Death song[edit]

I don't know how to fit this into the article but the Blood Fire Death song could not be described as anything but VIKING/MELODIC DEATH METAL - just the genre Amon Amarth (supposedly inspired by Bathory) do today - compare Blood Fire Death lyrics with Cry of the Blackbirds lyrics.

It must be said out because it's such a smasher - and that it's having commercially sucessful followers in A.A. today.

Name[edit]

I appreciate it's difficult to separate fact and rumour, but do we have any more sources concerning his real name? His grave is mentioned in the article... is that just marked Quorthon? Surely now he's dead it should be relatively straightforward to ascertain his identity. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 10:15, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The origin of this "real name" of Quorthon is supposedly an e-mail sent to Blabbermouth, believed to be from his sister, known as "Jennie Tebler" (Not even she would give up a real name). The editor of the Blabbermouth blog has refused to make it public. Quorthon personally denied ever having been called Tomas or Thomas, and the Forsberg name was part of the infamous "hockey player" spoof (he claimed to be Peter Forsberg) played on a german metal journalist. The BlackMark.net jpeg listed his name as Quorthon, the Bathory.se jpeg as "Ace Quorthon". I've seen no evidence warranting any other names than that, anywhere. I'd like to see some references. --Svartvintras 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Date of Quorthon's Death[edit]

Quorthon was found dead 7th june but died 3rd. I think it's little mess about it in this article.. at the top there is 7th june later about 3rd. I think someone should edit this(someone with better english than mine). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Viper-BERSERK (talkcontribs) 08:20, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The articles' first paragraph said he died June 3rd but the small 'bio' box still said 7th. Changed that. The 'death' part of the article stated he was found dead on June 3rd which is incorrect as all news sources say June 7th. So for the record - Quorthon died June 3rd but wasn't found until the 7th. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=10030741 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.82.65.121 (talk) 21:03, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Among reliable sources, I've only been able to confirm June 7 as the date of death: [1], [2], [3], [4]. Unless we can find a larger number of sources (and, please, only reliable ones) stating June 3 as the correct date, June 7 must remain as per WP:Verifiability. Religion?[edit]

Any source stating his religion? Atheist, Odinist...? Even though he used Satanic lyrics I doubt he was an actual Satanist. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.12.187.157 (talk) 19:21, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

once he said that his satanism was false, and something about "there is no god, all religions are false". i don't think he was an odinist, probably atheist. you should look over lyrics to "ode". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.14.98.169 (talk) 10:43, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
