Untitled[edit]

See discussion going on at Category talk:Musical compositions.

Suggestion to listers: don't list your lists under "L"!

--

The present category definition of category:lists of pieces has some vague edges, e.g. regarding Daphnis et Chloé by Ravel (and so many other compositions with "undefined" lyrics), and all operas (which have "lyrics", but can not be categorized either as "albums" or "songs").

Instead of taking part in the discussion here, please take part in the general discussion at Category talk:Musical compositions.

sub-categories[edit]

What would people think about moving some of these song lists into the sub-categories Category:Lists of songs based on characteristics of title and Category:Lists of songs based on chart position. I suck at naming articles, but you get the idea, right? If someone can suggest better names, I'm all ears. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 22:17, Apr 20, 2005 (UTC)

I agree. The two you mention seem good. I'd suggest adding Category:Lists of songs based on subject matter to that —BenFrantzDale 04:42, Apr 26, 2005 (UTC)

"Dwarf" lists[edit]

There are so many dwarf lists specializing on songs. Not only that, but also; lists that haven't even grown much and one that have only been altered by me; will some Wikipedians get summoned to expand "dwarf lists" for the fate of song list realsim? --SuperDude 05:28, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Idea[edit]

How about a list of songs that discuss specific kinds of cars, like "Mustang Sally", "Fun, Fun, Fun" and "Chevy Van"? Please put your votes below.--HistoricalPisces 19:13, 21 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Style[edit]

Are there style guidelines for these lists? For example, if a song has been performed by multiple artists, should each artist have their own line, or should they be combined on one line? (I see lots of examples of each style...) Szarka 18:54, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Long Songs[edit]

Anyone know why "List of songs over fifteen minutes in length" was deleted? I don't see why it would need to be singled out for deletion when we have all these other pages here.

Yeah, I do ... either the compulsive "it doesn't matter to me so I'll kill it" or the "it's not encyclopedic" crowd. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 206.124.154.247 (talk) 15:36, 28 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]
Which makes me wonder why the "Songs under one minute in length" list is still alive. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.110.87.33 (talk) 14:55, 31 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I'm agreeing here. If the "Songs under one minute in length" list is still there, there's no reason for an over fifteen minute list to be deleted. They're the same subject basically - songs of unusual length. Is there any way to recover the list? Or do we need to start anew? Dragosian 00:57, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Why was the list of songsw about homosexuality deleted? 67.46.0.13 23:36, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
