Random idea I had[edit]

Hey, uh, long time Nadesico fan here. I think the Naze Nani Nadesico page should be merged into the main article. I don't think it warrants its own separate section. I'm not too up on the keen about Wikipedia merger policies, so I thought I'd ask all of the people here if it's even applicable or a good idea. --Fattierob 20:23, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think that's a good idea. It does warrant some sort of mention because it's been imitated, but an article seems overkill. I'm going to put up the merger tags and hopefully that'll either show no one cares either way or they don't mind. --Gwern (contribs) 05:42 13 April 2007 (GMT)
I now realize that I already requested this on the ND-001 Nadesico Page. That anon edit was me, I wasn't logged in - but right now, I don't know if should go there (the actual battleship page), or here in the main article. Fattierob 03:33, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that old request for a merger was from march of last year. Two people agreed for it. Maybe we should merge it with the battleship page, and move on. Fattierob 03:34, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Edit 3: What the hell is wrong with me - I just realized I confused naze nani Nadesico with omikane. *shoots foot*. So yeah - this merger is still up then Fattierob

Help[edit]

Goodness, I am practically writing every detail here... Doesn't anyone else like Nadesico here? --Emperorbma 11:42 5 Jun 2003 (UTC)

That depends. Was this show ever on Adult Swim or something? Sasuke-kun 27 14:13, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think so; I've never heard of it. Which is kind of odd, since it would seem to be right up their ally (but they've been moving away from anime ever since they stopped being Midnight Run.) --maru (talk) contribs 13:34, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It was on Cartoon Network and was a part of Giant robot week. Only 1 episode was shown, I believe it was the last one.

Plot spoilers[edit]

Well, this page has the standard spoiler warning, should we include the secret identities of Inez and Akatsuki to their bio lines? They are both important to the overall plot, and the line about "you'll love it when you find out who she really is" seems POV to me. --Gentgeen 13:47, 14 Nov 2003 (UTC)

I don't think giving away the plot spoilers really adds to the encyclopedic usefulness of the page, so I'd say no. The POV stuff should go, too chatty. --mib

Names[edit]

Ranma9617 (and others): Please do not change Inez Fressange's name back to "Fressage". The correct spelling is "Fressange". The kana for the name are fu-re-sa-n-je (フレサンジェ), there is definitely an "n" in there. I invite you to surf any Japanese pages for Nadesico if you don't believe me. She is named after the person Ines de Fressange (or her signature perfume, "Ines de La Fressange"). --mib 11:43, 14 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Turns out that the author of the "Inez Fressage" mispelled her name when writing the article title/file name(the erraneous link is in Akito Tenkawa) and it went undetected until you told me.I did manage to change the file name so the Ines Fressange link finally works now.Who misspelled it in the first place,I don't know;but it's fixed once and for all now.^^ --Ranma9617 02:41, 15 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Aha, I see. Thanks for that. --mib 11:06, 15 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Actually, I think you have mistaken me. Although the Japanese name is "i-ne-su" (イネス), named after the perfume/designer, her name in English is translated as Inez with a Z. (I suspect this might be for copyright and/or legal reasons.) Can you rename the Ines Fressange page to be Inez Fressange? --mib 11:15, 15 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Hey, one thing I'd like to add, is the simple fact that the number of Regular characters on Nadesico. Is it really possible to give everyone a proper entry? I hope so. --DWolf2k2 21:00, 21 Jun 2006 (UTC)

Epis[edit]

I'm adding a full episode listing. Working on it. Haoie 23:50, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much to whomever finished it. I wonder if a brief synopsis is necessary, or perhaps it'll be too plot revealing. Haoie 00:24, 5 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

chulips[edit]

I wrote an entry on chulips. Please feel free to read it, comment/make changes, and add links to it in the previously written articles.

nomenclature[edit]

the name nadesico actually comes from the flower called "nadeshiko" in Japanese. In English, this flower is called the dianthus. Other floral names are: Crocus, Pansy, Shakuyaku, Kakitsubata, Cosmos, and Chulip. Shakuyaku, Kakitsubata, and Chulip are the Japanese equivalents of Paeonia lactiflora, Iris laevigata, and Tulip (of the genus Tulipa) respectively. The Nadesico's emblem is in fact a petal from the dianthus flower, and the petals can also be seen in the opening animation.

Anyone else notice this?

Yes I sure did. Cute puns aren't they? Haoie 07:29, 3 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Nadesico herself[edit]

I'm thinking of creating a page for information on the ND-001 Nadesico herself (itself?). Any interest in this? -CWD 04:02, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jovian Lizards?[edit]

Among the different Nadesico articles, I see the pejorative term 'Jovian Lizards' pop up quite some times. I do most postively think this should be just 'Jovians'. The term 'Lizards' was invented anyway, by parties who wanted to hide the fact that the UEAF was fighting humans. --Bakabaka 15:18, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Since 'Jovian Lizard' is a proper noun used to describe the Jovians, I think that it should be kept, at the very least to maintain continuity between other articles that use the term.

--perfectblue 15:21, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Should a spoiler for Jovian Lizards being exiles from earth be included? I feel that this is important, and now that its hard to find episodes, perhaps it should be included in a separate article. -Izaak

Hentai?[edit]

The 'Review' section of the page says that Megumi did character voices for Hentai productions. I don't remember this ever coming up in the Anime (at least not in the English dub, anyway).

Does anybody have a source or citation for this (must be fro the Anime, NOT the Manga), preferably a specific episode and which version of the dialog it was in.?

If not, I may delete it as suspected vandalism.

--perfectblue 15:25, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I guess it is. Magical Princess Natural Lychee hardly qualifies as hentai... -- Bakabaka 06:04, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm certain I remember one or two joking scenes where it was implied she had done hentai in the past...Been a while since I saw it though--Josquius 17:32, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In the English dub, Episode 17, very early in the episode (perhaps the second or third scene), when the characters are in line for crisis counselling, an unnamed crewman asks Megumi if she was a voice actress in Tenticle Love Goddess, to which she replies in the positive. Gentgeen 22:55, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ooh, I remember indeed! Guess the entry should be reverted then :) -- Bakabaka 11:24, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's a throw-away line, isn't in the Japanese version, and is really subtle and easy to miss. I don't think it's inclusion or omission from the article is important either way. Gentgeen 23:43, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reason/Rumour of why the possibility of a sequel to Nadesico is now impossible[edit]

That is a part of the nadesico article from the Jwiki: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%A9%9F%E5%8B%95%E6%88%A6%E8%89%A6%E3%83%8A%E3%83%87%E3%82%B7%E3%82%B3

The last part meantioned a rumour that is based on Tatsuo Sato's web diary about why the sequels got scraped. It basically say that the relations of Star Child and XEBEC got bad beacuse they released some low quality anime.

Should this be included in the Nadesico 2 section?

RE:== Reason/Rumour of why the possibility of a sequel to Nadesico is now impossible ==

Yes, every detail and information is useful. Helps complete and end any thoughts on why there will most likly never be a Stellvia 2 or a Nadesico 2 following the movie.

Sure, keep it in English though, Japanese text is just squares to a lot of people and even to me knowing a bit of Japanese its quite meaningless.--Josquius 00:30, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try translating the Japanses text into English. Er, do we keep the Japanese text here in the discussion page...or did I just ask a rhetorical question? Doberdog 01:52, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Uh...well, I did what I could with the translation. With that, two things came to mind:
1) I decided to exclude the part about the supposed disagreement between Starchild and XEBEC. I couldn't find any reference to it. And besides, Wikipedia has a policy against a Wikipedia aticle referring to another Wikipedia article given their mercurial nature. (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citing_sources) Hopefully, someone can come up with a good reference.
2) After translating Tatsuo Sato's blog entry, I came to think of it as redundant in light of the Anime News Network article. The ANN article itself might be better off being merged into the "review" section.
I'll leave the final decision to you guys. Doberdog 03:37, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

When surfing on the net about the manga to find pictures I found that there were 9 volumes and not 4. They also said that it's in production in Japan. Me I only got 4 volumes and it was looking like an end, although the last line was supposing a continuation. I would like to know a offical source but I don't know any. The only lead I got is this website:

http://www.cinemasie.com/en/fiche/oeuvre/nadesicomanga/

So please if you find anything let me know.

Thanks

Names Part 2[edit]

Hey everyone. I also included a question about the proper spelling of Gai Daigoji (sp?). I remember in one episode Akito Tenkawa was painting a model in honor of Gai Daigoji (sp?) and he spelled it Gay not Gai. I was wondering if whenever he is referenced, whether on his own wikipedia page (which I originally posted this discussion question) or here, which spelling should we utilize? 214.3.124.4 08:59, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Anonymous214.3.124.4 08:59, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

By his own definition, the name "Gai Daigōji" is the name of his spirit - and seeing as how he's a mecha fanatic, it makes sense to leave the name in its Japanese form. It's normally written in kana, but how many anime heroes do you know with the name "gai"?(A lot. ^^ Also, "Dai" can mean "great", and "gōji" can be referencing "kōji", the name of the hero in the grandfather of all mecha series, Mazinger Z) ......So, anyway, what I'm saying is, that name is totally Japanese, so I think we should keep it as such. I don't believe Gay is an official English spelling given, in any case. Gai was what they used in the dub. (I'll go through some articles and edit in the long mark if needed) Darkslime 19:08, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Irrelevant - The official English spelling is "Guy" if anyone was wondering. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.41.210.63 (talk) 21:43, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Character list?[edit]
