This article is written in American English, which has its own spelling conventions (color, defense, traveled) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

Compared to vermilion[edit]

It seems to me that the article was merely attempting to cite an early historical reference to the color scarlet. The Hebrew names 'shaniy' and 'tolaath,' which are translated 'scarlet' in English versions of the Bible, refer to the insect larvae that were used in antiquity to produce scarlet dye. Color of Flame[edit]

Scarlet is never known to be the color of flame. That is just stupid. That color "flame" is not related to Scarlet. In factit looks Orange. Recheck Torch Red[edit]

Please improve or move section on variations of Scarlet[edit]

Following format of other color articles[edit]

The format for this article should follow that of other color articles. The info box with image should be first, with nothing above it. The list of proprietary variations should be at the bottom, not top of the article; otherwise, it will gradually become very long, and will take over the article, which was unfortunately the common practice in the past. Dictionary definition re orange tinge[edit]

There seems to be a variation in dictionary definitions of Scarlet. With some mentioning a tinge of orange (e.g. [1]), and some not (e.g. [2]). The lede does note that the spectrum, it lies between red and orange, so in theory, it could have some orange in it. However, I am open either way as long as we reflect what is a consensus. Second sentence in conflict with referenced article[edit]
