Wikipe-tan request

Hey Kasuga, I've been a pretty big fan of your work with Wikipe-tan for a while now. Wikipe-tan in the Library and the Library of Babel are by far my favorite works of yours. Anyway, after seeing Gothic Lolita Wikipe-tan, I was wondering if you could make a version of Wikipe-tan for the steampunk page. She would be similar in style to gothic lolita, as steampunk is predominantly influenced by Victorian-era fashion. I am what many would call a "grammar Nazi," and am a native speaker of English, and have been able to read English near-perfectly since a very early age, around five years old, starting at three years. Hello, After I have vectorised Image:Sock puppetting.png in SVG, I use it for made Image:Wikipe-tan guignol.svg but I'm not as good in drawing than you. Your text can be written in proper Japanese as:

I think "グラフィックのワークショップ" is not the good Japanese term for "Atelier graphique". I couldn't understand what it means at first. You should use the French term (アトリエグラフィック) as it is in katakana, or the English one (グラフィックラボ) in katakana. When you want to use the Japanese translated term, you can use "グラフィック工房" or "画像工房" as "Atelier graphique" ("工房" means "atelier" in Japanese).

And, you should not put "ウィキの" to "イメージデザイナー". It is not liked in the Japanese Wikipedia community that abbreviating "ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)" as "ウィキ(wiki)". --Kasuga (talk)

On WWW, there are many wikis other than Wikipedia. When some people used a word "wiki" as "Wikipedia", it brought confusion whether he says Wikipedia or another wiki. As a result, "wiki" is not recommended to be used as "Wikipedia". So far it only has the same picture from Stub-class up to B-class, and GA and FA have thier own. Another request for Wikia ACG

Hello again Kasuga. Thanks again for Wikia ACG's mascot. The Narutopedia has been growing a fair bit, so I thought perhaps we could replace the plain logo with a version of the Wikia ACG mascot in Shinobi attire from the Naruto universe. Or at least change around places where she would appear with her in the relevant attire.

Do you feel like adapting the mascot for use on the Narutopedia?

If you want a base idea to start. I was thinking of her wearing a konohagakure forehead protector, perhaps around the neck as some characters do. As well perhaps a loose flak jacket, though I don't know if it would fit. She could also hold a throwing star in one hand near the opposite shoulder ready to throw — considering the right facing direction of the image, the left hand over the right shoulder would probably work — The long sleeves do work on her, so perhaps it would be held through a fold.

Or if you felt like using an entirely different attire than normal to fit completely into the role I could dig up more screenshots and come up with more ideas. Thanks again. Dantman (talk) 18:23, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Wikipe-tan images for article classes

Hello. Recently at WikiProject Anime and manga, we have been discussing incorporating different images into the project banner for each article class as we do for GA and FA/FL articles (see Talk:Sasuke Uchiha and Talk:List of Black Lagoon episodes for examples). The present images that are used are Image:Wikipe-tan good article.png and Image:Wikipe-tan in navy uniform2 transparent.png. As such, I'm requesting that similar images be made for start-class (), C-class (), B-class (), and list-class () articles. I realize that a lot of effort goes into these, but we would be very greatful for your work (since we already owe you so much for Wikipe-tan :p). I think different ages of Wikipe-tan would work. However, per the discussion you referenced, the project isn't interested in implementing an A-class review, so all we need are images for stub-class (), start-class (), C-class (), and B-class (). You can see the icons in the parenthesis. Also, if possible, a list-class () would be good, but I don't have any ideas for how that would work. Being intrusive here. I think Umi Ryuuzaki from Magic Knight Rayearth would be a good model for Wikinews. Her alice band could be the wikinews logo and she could have a bracelets too. For Wikispecies, Wikibooks, Wikitionary and Meta I think some boys would be good. For Meta a Mamoru Chiba like would be good =P. Well, for the time being these are my ideas. But i would like to make a request if possible. Could you do another version of this one but holding a video game with screen instead? • I'm going to comment here, as it seems most appropriate. I was sure there already was a Wiki-tan for Wikinews, with a notebook or somesuch. Would it be at all possible to have one of the adult -tan with a notebook, a press pass round her neck (word PRESS in EN/JP visible) and the Wikinews logo as hair decorations. Can I ask you some illustrations?

Hello Kasuga, I am Ju gatsu mikka from the french Wikipédia.

I and a few others users are currently being recast the equivalent of the WikiProject Anime and manga and its portal. In this context, I just wanted to improve the illustrations which are used and I wantto ask you if you can realize some for us.

Some clues on what we need:

• A Commons-tan head whitout body looking on the left for replace the blond haired head in the introduction of the portal ;
• A News-tan looking on the rigth for our news section. I suggest you something like a twin to Quote-tan to refer to the first title of this file, but with longer hair and a newspaper to replace the microphone ;
• A Commons-tan looking on the left in the same school uniform than Wikipe-tan for our Project.

The images of Wikipe-tan by Kasuga are all released under the GNU Free Documentation License. I’m pretty sure that you are free to do what you have asked about. Wikipe-tan herself has been mentioned or used in plenty of reliable sources (to the point that she is actually notable for her own Wikipedia article), see Wikipedia:Wikipe-tan for a selection of such sources (and if you know of any others, please feel free to add them). Bishōnen Wikipe-tan

Hello, Kasuga. First off, I would like to announce myself to be somewhat of a fan of Wikipe-tan (hmm, that rhymes), and wish that she, and not the Wikipede (ugh), had won the mascot contest however many years ago. Anyway, I was reading through some of the archives of your talk page (specifically Archive 1) when I saw a request for a bishōnen Wikipe-tan, followed by you discounting you painting skills and basically saying that you are unable to fulfill the request. While I, too, cannot paint true bishōnen, I may be able to Photoshop something together. I could use an existing image of Wikipe-tan, or you could make a black-and-white line drawing, a grayscale drawing, or a color drawing, in a more bishōnen-style pose or something similar, and I could see what I could do. If there are certain things you would like to have written on the bishōnen Wikipe-tan, please post it as an image on Wikipedia (my internet is acting up and won't let me visit many other websites, not even WikiCommons) in the order it should go in. I believe the Japanese language is read top-to-bottom, left-to-right, correct? The reason for all this is that I do not understand Japanese in just about any way. Adult Wikipe-tan

Sorry, I probably seem kind of bothersome, making two new sections in one day, but I would like to say that I think there should be more adult Wikipe-tan pictures. I think her being an adult brings a kind of class to it. The young Wikipe-tan is cute and adorable, much like many manga girls, but the adult Wikipe-tan adds a certain sense of maturity, as people have argued in the past, that her being the unofficial mascot (no, folks, "community mascot" does not mean that she is THE mascot of Wikipedia) makes Wikipedia seem childish and playful, and that isn't what Jimbo intended (although some vandals would disagree). Also, there are a great number of WikiProjects that could really use such a great icon as Wikipe-tan (or the adult version) that you may consider. Finally, let me just say that going through some articles and userpages and talk pages, your English is much better than some English-speaking natives. -- Imadeausername! Wikipe-tan's future

You may want to head over and check out WP:Anime#Wikipe-tan as there have been charges leveled that she is basically porn (specifically lolicon) and creates a hostile enviroment at Wikipedia for women. I know User:Bread Ninja suggested creating a male counterpart to promote in addition as well as changing the style. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days.
