Executive Director[edit]

As of this coming fall, the position of Executive Director is being co-chaired by Vicki Barton, Director of Residential Life, and Dr. David Williams, Director of Academic Life. They will be co-chairing the position for the coming school year, until a candidate search is complete for a proper replacement for the position. --Martin Osterman 14:08, 17 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

As of 2014, Vickie Barton is the sole Executive Director of the Indiana Academy. As of 2019, Jeff Smith is Director of Academic Affairs and Paul Douglas is Director of Residential and Student Affairs. Frigmous (talk) 13:20, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Question of Suicides[edit]

With respect to Academy students both past and present, the issue of suicides being discussed on the main page has been taken down for the moment until sources can be brought forth backing the topic of suicides at the Academy. I should point out, as a member of the Academy's 2001 graduating class, that I had heard rumors only of suicides taking place, but nothing has been made "official" since I started attending in the fall of 1999. I still keep an ear on the Academy and nothing on the topic has been broached (and no current events of this nature have occurred) in the past six years.

As soon as sources are brought forward that support the position previously mentioned (that the Academy has a sucicide rate 25% higher than other schools, etc.), I will gladly support mention of this topic on the main page. --Martin Osterman 16:32, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I fully support the above statement. While suicides are a common topic of discussion across some/many classes, and might be worth mentioning, firm statements such as "25%" definitely need to be double-checked and sources cited before they're included. --Interiot 18:02, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Agree that generalizations are not appropriate. However, it would not be inappropriate to include a section regarding, perhaps, tragedies at the Academy (along the lines of Virginia Tech shootings), given that there were three suicides within six weeks during the 1993-1994 school year (Nathanael Mahns, Kevin Frey, and Scott Scherschel, all originally IASMH'95). School Template Infobox[edit]

The Infobox for schools contains placeholders for information such as enrollment, faculty numbers, student:teacher ratio, and school colors. This information is readily available, but keeps getting removed. If someone would like to add this information in such a fashion as to not fall under the remorseless gaze of senior editors unfamiliar with the subject of the articles which they so passionately police, I'll include it here.

Enrollment: ~320 which includes residential, nonresidential, and international students

Faculty: 30

Student/teacher ratio: ~11:1 (based on 320/30)

School colors: Burgundy (PMS202, #862633), Buff (PMS721, #e0ab76), Oxford Blue (PMS282, #002147)

It behooves any editor here not to use the term 'edit Nazis,' especially at this week when the Holocaust is memorialized; that's tone deaf and insulting. It's also an attack on editors in good standing, coming from a WP:COI account. Added enrollment info from NCES. Also removed info that this is a charter school. It isn't. NCES is also the source for that. Considering that filing accurate reports with the USDE is required for the school by law, I'd say it's a very reliable source for that info. John from Idegon (talk) 15:58, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Facts For Addition[edit]

(Pending WP:CONSENSUS, of course)

The Indiana Academy is a public residential gifted/talented high school open to any high school junior or senior residing in the state of Indiana, not just a residential high school. Academy students pay no tuition. It may also be notable to include the fact that the Academy has a non-residential program, an international student program, and outreach programs including high school distance education courses and AP teacher training.

The Academy has a sister school relationship with Sächsisches Landesgymnasium Sankt Afra zu Meißen.

The Academy's school colors are Burgundy , Buff , and Blue .
