Bairiki is not a village but a small town on an islet (with the same name). The official name of the capital is not Bairiki but Teinainano Urban Council (from Bairiki to Bonriki), also known as South Tarawa. It's a mistake to consider Bairiki as the capital of Kiribati. The Parliament, for example, is not in the Bairiki islet but Ambo islet.--Enzino 10:57, 20 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for the clarification. It is unnecessary to have separate Bairiki (village) and Bairiki (island) articles. Indeed, I'm, moving all material to South Tarawa to reduce the number of stubs here - Marshman 21:08, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
