About[edit]

What is Tattoology? Tattoology is the branch of knowledge that deals with both the ancient and modern practice of writing on the skin with indelible substances. Tattoology was coined in the year 2000 by Tattoologist Joshua Andrews, to aid the development of this newly emerging, multi-disciplinary inquiry into every facet of the world of tattooing.

In the last few years the branch of knowledge now known as Tattoology, has exploded in scope as more and more serious and concerted research is being done into all facets of tattoos and tattooing. Tattoology is increasingly being recognized within the academy to the extent that a new Tattoology paper is being published by institutionally recognized and respected scholars from various other disciplines every month.
