The Manor in Chetwode has been occupied by the Collins Family since (I believe) the 1950's when they lived at the Grange in Chetwode. --Daedelus 18:29, 30 Nov 2004 (UTC)

How did they come into possession of the manor? If it was through inheritance that statement in the article is still correct. -- Graham ☺ | Talk 20:58, 30 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Mr JEH Collins moved to Chetwode Manor in the 1980s. He married the current owner of the house who has no relation to the Chetwode family. The manor was sold in the 1960s.

Chetwode Family[edit]

How could there be an article on Chetwode without mentioning the Chetwode Family. John de Chetwode, Lord of Chetwode founded the Priory of Chetwood when? That's why I looked this up. The manor "belonged to a Chetwode before the Conquest" is the best I can find elsewhere.Dangnad (talk) 01:14, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well the answer is very simple. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedic project compiled by editors. Nothing would exist without the efforts of these users. No one has got around to the Chetwodes as they have been busy elsewhere in the project so why not join in and have a go at compiling the information on the Chetwodes yourself.Tmol42 (talk) 01:34, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You might find it useful to add info to this page also Baron ChetwodeTmol42 (talk) 01:38, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

According to an article in the first issue of Records of Buckinghamshire, a publication of the Buckinghamshire Archaeological Society -- a PDF of the article is available online here: http://www.bucksas.org.uk/rob/rob_1_6_206.pdf -- "Sir J.N.L. Chetwode" had records relating to the Manor House and the history of the village. He was undoubtedly Sir John Newdigate-Ludford-Chetwode, 5th Baronet (1788–1873). So the house was still in the family at that time. Although it has been mentioned in the Talk section that the Manor House was sold "in the 1960s", I suspect that it may have been more likely to have been sold shortly after the death of the 1st Baron Chetwode in 1950 to pay death duties. This would require further investigation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.47.167.219 (talk) 15:30, 26 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
