Hall of Fame[edit]

Sorry, I'm not very good in English, I'm more on wiki in french. The subject is that I saw in French that Nels Stewart is an honoured member of the Hall of Fame since 1962 and you in your infobox say 1952. But in the section Playing career you say 1962. If it's in french we have reason you will also have to correct the arrival year in the members of Hall of Fame also, and on the picture. If I'm wrong and it's 1952, can you leave me a message on my talk page in wiki french (page de discussion) to tell me that. You can leave me a message in english. There is a article from 1957 upon his death that says he was a member of the hall of fame. I guess we have to investigate. The problem is that the Toronto Hall of Fame did not exist then. But the Kingston organization was doing the inducting. Alaney2k (talk) 17:26, 3 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Coleman says 1962. The NHL Media Guide says 1962. McFarlane's 50 Years Of Hockey says 1952. The HHOF website (which, alas, has a lot of errors) says 1962. I'd say 1962 has the preponderance of sources. Ravenswing 03:59, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Don't you think that the ones who wrote 1952 may have confused that year when they read that Maurice Richard broke the record of 324 goals until then held by Nels Stewart. The year the 'Rocket' broke that record is...1952. If someone was distracted by that and made the error, others may have re-take this on and on. No? Just a supposition. And I corrected 18 others players that the year written was 1963 and it is 1962 in hhof.com. If you want to undo my contributions you can do it if you think that hhof.com is wrong. Now I have read something and I think it is 1952. In the article that follow it is said 1962, 5 years after his death (1957). But if you read the comment in the bottom of the article dy the reader 'Derek', his comment is very long and seems 'sourced' or deep like if he had a book of him. And at his last paragraph he quote a text that Stewart was inducted in 1952 and if you read it it, it's like the present in 1952. Now at 50... and we know he is born in about 1921. The 'Honoured Members' book of the HHOF, which is definitive, lists the date of induction as August 19, 1952 for Nels Stewart, on page 23. I have updated the article and the HHOF list article. Alaney2k (talk) 17:35, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've done a search of newspapers.com, which specializes in older papers, and I've got a positive on 1952 from Elmer Ferguson's syndicated column (Lethbridge Herald, 11/3/52), from the Troy Record (8/20/52). Oddly enough, the International Hockey Hall of Fame's website lists the other five players inducted in 1952 but NOT Stewart. Ravenswing 21:58, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
