Dubbing sections for Hungary and Romania[edit]

Recently I have been correcting the dubbing entries for these two countries (Hungary and Romania). Two IP addresses reverted my edits, even though the Hungarian entry they restored had Romanian statistics:

According to this survey (QA11), 62% of Romanians prefer subtitles over dubbing compared to 15% for Hungarians. On QA11.8 (translated from French), 22% of Romanians prefer dubbing compared to 84% of Hungarians. Mewtwowimmer (talk) 22:11, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reorganising sections[edit]

It is better to put the general use and alternatives sections before the use per specific country. --2001:630:E4:4220:8085:C416:4D67:9241 (talk) 13:08, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Edits by anonymous that bundled Ukraine and Russia together[edit]

This edit in August 2017 [1] by anonymous 93.72.151.52 bundled Ukraine and Russia into one bucket, even though they were previously into seperate subsections. Why on earth would you do that!? Reverting and will report this edits if this is repeated.--Piznajko (talk) 21:36, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Origin of "ADR" name[edit]

The current "ADR/post-sync" section does not explain where the name comes from. What is it that is automated about the process? Does anyone in the business know of a source that explains it and could be used? 96.22.66.24 (talk) 22:00, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Too long" template removal?[edit]

Does anyone feel the template should remain, or does the article still need organizing/shortening? Ninjalectual (talk) 00:02, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Still almost double the suggested maximum length of 100k kb (180k kb). — Wyliepedia @ 01:53, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Global use section[edit]

Whilst the Global Use section feature a lot of useful information, as this article is supposed to focus on dubbing, I was thinking that we make the said section a separate article. This is especially as it may sometimes talk in some detail about subtitling. --213.248.112.2 (talk) 08:23, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Split this article into sub-articles when enough information is present[edit]

My personal opinion and suggestion concerning this article length is:

  • keep a summary on this article for each country (the article will remain quite long);
  • for countries whose content would be enough to form an autonomous article, create a "main" article and move all of the most detailed information there; keep a summary on this article and insert a link to the main article;
    • I know this is a lot of work, but it can be done little by little, maybe starting from the countries having more content; I think this could be done at best by different people who are native of each country. Lion-hearted85 (talk) 13:58, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I consider that especially the lists of dubbing actors per country is excessive, at least in this general article. I think those should be made into List of German dubbing actors, for example, and then linked from their respective sections here. Germany has a huge number of established professional voices for foreign actors, and while the list so far is excessive for this article, it doesn't remotely scrape the bottom of the barrel. --2003:EF:1704:7259:A5A6:13BC:7C09:4D59 (talk) 21:16, 5 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
P. S.: I think such an own article should have the same list twice: Once sorted by dubbing actor, and once sorted by international star. Such would be necessary because in Germany, re-casting of an international star's standard voice are far from rare throughout the star's career, where:
  • an association with a certain voice may even be perceived in Germany as something like a certain period in the international star's career (example: In his 1950s films, Frank Sinatra was mostly dubbed by Wolfgang Kieling, but from the 1960s onwards, he was replaced by Gerd Martienzen and Herbert Stass taking turns on Sinatra.),
  • certain US directors will demand a different standard voice for the star only in that one director's films (examples would include George Clooney, who is mostly dubbed by Detlev Bierstedt, but in Soderbergh's films, he's dubbed by Martin Umbach instead),
  • a similar case to the last one is when the same actor receives a different standard voice whether it's a serious or a comedic role (example: In his serious roles, Steve Buscemi was mostly dubbed by Thomas Petruo, but by Santiago Ziesmer in his comedy roles.)
  • and when a German dubbing actor dies, not all of his roles will be re-cast with the same new standard voice (example: When Martin Schott died due to a car accident in 1982, Jooachim Kerzel replaced him only as standard voice of Jack Nicholson and Dustin Hoffman, whereas Randolf Kronberg replaced him as standard voice of DeForest Kelley). --2003:EF:1704:7259:A5A6:13BC:7C09:4D59 (talk) 21:42, 5 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
