User page in LDS category[edit]

Hi, I notice your user page is in Category:Latter Day Saints; I assume this in error, as that's an 'article space' category. Can I suggest you might wish to place yourself in Category:Christian Wikipedians (or in a not-yet-existant Category:Latter Day Saint Wikipedians), which is in the 'wikipedians' category subtree? Alright, I finaly realized I can edit my user page. It's nice to know that Jpgordon's Orwellian attampts at censorship are incomplete.

To begin with, you were a complete child about this. The email I sent you included much more than the explanation that my dad had sent you the email. My dad in fact did send you that email. Perhaps you're upset that I never said that what my dad thought was untrue, well, I don't I do think what my dad said is unnecessary, however, because it was unrelated to the subject of why it was improper for you to ban me. Likewise, all your "reasons" for banning me are unrelated to the actual reason I was banned.

Basically, the only two reasons you have given, is that you thought the facts we included in the encyclopedia article on kwanzaa counted as vandalism. This is entirely untrue, the information we added was factual, and if you had beef with it you should have mention it on the talk page. Your impulse, when facts were presented that made you unhappy, was simply to ban us to prevent us from further editing. An Orwellian response if their ever was one, and definitely not in the spirit of Wikipedia. I suggest that you have an ideological axe to grind and are unwilling to see information that spoils your tender world view. I suggest that, in the future, you keep you censorship tendencies to a minimium.

That was what the bulk of the email I sent you contained, it would be more mature of you to have mentioned that.

It is entirely within my authority to block editors for 3RR violations, and I did block User:66.141.170.190 for 24 hours after having earlier warned him. Well, I'm glad you asked. You seem to be confused about what exactly makes an article favor a certain point of view. I agree that the article is bland, very bland, and inoffensive as well. That does not make it neutral. I've described the article before as sounding like a promotional pamphlet for kwanzaa. Now, promotional pamphlets are in all but extreme cases, inoffensive, they generally lose their persuasive power if they are offensive. People who produce them would like to think otherwise, but promotional pamhplets are also bland. It would be a fallacy, however, to think that promotional pamphlets aren't biased. They obviously present the facts in a slanted, non-neutral manner. This is true of the kwanzaa article.

People insist that facts about it's creator should not be included and have nothing to do with kwanzaa. This, plainly, is bullshit. Anybody who has taken high school English courses will remember learning about the background of the author of a work they are studying. Understanding the views of the author, the society he lived in, and a number of other things are important to help interpret his or her work. The same is true of the creator of kwanzaa. The creatore of kwanzaa, however, is a rather controversial figure (to say the least). Certain people would prefer for this not to be known, because it sheds too much of a negative light on their beloved holiday. Perhaps it does, but the information is factual and necessary, and these people need to learn to live with some of the nastier facts about their holiday and live with it. --~ Jared ~ 02:06, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Kinara.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Kinara.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too.
