Pronunciation[edit]

I question the pronunciation currently on the page, which is /ˈrn/. This seems to indicate a one-syllable pronunciation, which I have never heard. I made a sound file of how I pronounce it, which another user transcribed to IPA as /ˈr.ɪn/. A previous revision added the pronunciation /rˈæn/ (later removed for unexplained reasons), which supports a two-syllable pronunciation, but differs on the vowel sounds. I'm nearly positive the first vowel sound in that one is wrong, but I could be mistaken on the second one. Anyone else want to weigh in and see if we can get some consensus on what is correct? I'm not too familiar with IPA but I think /ˈr.ɪn/ would be correct. Your pronunciation is absolutely correct, I live in Rowan and this is the only way that the county name is pronounced. Elspamo4 (talk) 18:44, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I'll leave this up for a bit to see if we get any more feedback, but if not, I'll change it based on this discussion. Acdixon (talk · contribs) 19:43, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
