Template:Afd3 is permanently protected from editing because it is a heavily used or highly visible template. Substantial changes should first be proposed and discussed here on this page. Question about process[edit]

I just tried to nominate an article for deletion, and something went wrong. The instructions at {{Afd3 starter}} were a little confusing. Do I first have to edit and save the AfD log page, and then save the new article deletion discussion page, or the other way around, or does it matter?
